Going to Baltimore

Going to Baltimore tonight for work. I am staying on the harbor. Any recommendations as to where to go to eat. Only there for a night unfortunately. Thanks in advance.

Pisces is an excellent seafood restaurant at the top floor of the Hyatt. Panoramic views of the harbor at all tables.

McCormick and Schmitts (sp?) is not a Baltimore original, but has great seafood and an excellent view of the harbor.

There's a seafood place next to the Galleria along the street fronting the harbor that has a great shellfish (crab, clams and mussel) platter. I'll post it if I remember it later.

Remember while in Baltimore to heed Carmelo's warning. Stop snitching.

Phillips Harborplace (sometimes called Phillips Seafood) is regarded very highly. Sometimes there are long waits to get in, but perhaps not at this time of the year.

Do not venture too far from the Inner Harbor area, especially at night.

I visited there about 10 years ago, and asked where we should go for food & beer: hotel told us Fell's Point, and it was a decent night out. (We said we'd walk, at which point the hotel practically frogmarched us into a taxi - VERY glad they did)

Inner Harbour is cool as well (that's where the Aquarium is [which is well worth a look] ?) for a picturesque evening meal and drink.

Thanks for the info. It is funny that everyone who I have talked to about Baltimore has said don't venture from the harbor. Probably a good thing to know since I live in Manhatten and don't think much of it to walk around real late at night.

I am looking forward to hitting up a seafood place for some crabs and clams. Can't wait it has been a few years since I have gone to a good seafood house. Hopefully my flight won't be too delayed (leaving from LaGuardia so I am sure it will be) so that I can get in at a decent hour.

BuffaloHuskey,

I used to live in Queens, and then in Baltimore. Baltimore is much, much rougher than NYC. It's kind of like Detroit's little brother.

Fell's Point is the place to go bar hopping if that is your thing, and the food there is not bad at all.

You could try Bertha's for mussels in Fell's Point, maybe Sabatino's in Little Italy, or Ruth's Chris if you want to go upscale. Akbar's if you like Indian, Louie's Bookstore Cafe if you like the artsy scene, Tony Cheng's for Chinese, maybe Tio Pepe for Mexican.

Roy's is a great Seafood place as well.

Fells Point is where all the young kids hang out, go to Canton or Federal Hill if you are going out drinking and you are over the age range of 18-22.

I ended up going to McCormick's and Schmick's. Good food and beer selection. Had some oysters, clams, and crab legs. I also enjoyed my Sam Adam's seasonal brew (which my waitress was unsure of which one it was) but I didn't care it was tasty.

Since I ate their 2 weeks ago, I also had the Sam Seasonal. It is the summer brew which is a White Ale this year.

Stay in the harbor. See the aquarium. Don't wander anywhere else without a kevlar vest and a loaded shotgun.

too bad i missed the before portion of this thread, my sister lives about 20 minutes outside the city, so i go there alot....for next time anyway, there is a nice brewpub right in Inner Harbor called Capitol City Brewing Co... the food is ok, beer is pretty good, but i dont know about seafood, and if you were looking for a good place to drink, Max's at Fell's Point is has one of the best beer selections of any bar i have ever been to. (couple hundred choices, easy)
