I wish I did, but I'm not buying DirectTV just to get it.

I have it, but I would only suggest getting it if you have a multiple TV setup. I have 3 mid-size TV's hooked together in the same room. It's great for parties and just general afternoons of lounging.

I had Direct TV when I lived in DC. Now that I live in Michigan, I have no need for the Sunday Ticket. I get to see all the Lions' games (whether this is a good thing is another question).

I enjoyed having the Sunday Ticket, but I don't think it's nearly as good a value as the other sports packages. There were a couple of Sundays during the season that I had things to do, go to a wedding, to a friend's, etc. I TiVo'd the Lions' games, but I didn't see any others. I felt like each Sunday that I didn't spend in front of the TV from 1:00 pm EST until around 7-7:30, I was losing money.

The other packages are much cheaper and games are on pretty much every night.

I have Basic Cable for local channels and internet access and DirecTV for the NFL Sunday Ticket. That's the only reason why I have DirecTV.

DirectTV with NFL Ticket plus a small indoor antenna to receive local HD channels.

Moved into a new house last fall and the main reason I got DirectTV was for the NFL Package so I wouldn't miss any Steelers games.

Now that I get all the Steelers games locally i really have no need for the ticket. That new instant replay thing on the NFL network that starts next year will also be cool to see an additional 4 games that I may have missed on sunday. Even if I already know the outcome

I should also add that we get a youngstown affiliate that shows Browns games, so sometimes I get an extra game(even if it is the browns).

almost got it last year (actually I think I did buy it and then cancelled, iirc). my schedule changed and I ended up working all day on Sundays.

I've got a new schedule now, but I'm mostly interested in the Pats games anyways, and I get all of those as it is. so no ST. not sure I could live without Center Ice though. big shocker there.

DirecTV plus antenna for HD locals. No Sunday Ticket; it's overpriced for what you get (especially in lieu of the blackouts over the last couple of seasons and the $99 extra to get the games in HD...)

FYI.....the NFL lifted the blackout restriction for Direct Ticket. Starting this coming season, blackout restrictions will not apply to Direct Ticket. You can see all games no matter where you are located.

I have Dierectv only for Sunday ticket. My main gripes with Directv are pretty simple...

1. $499 to LEASE a HD-DVR when my local cable company will give me one for free.

2. Limited HBO and Cinemax. All the shows I like that are on HBO are on HBO Comedy/HBO Zone and Directv's Max has 2 channels while local cable's has like 10.

They do have quite a monopoly though with the Sunday Ticket. But I don't know if that is a good thing because if they keep shitting on customers due to the monopoly on Sunday Ticket and then lose it to cable I won't be sticking around for another minute.

I am kinda curious of how this works.

This would mean you would need 3 Direct TV receivers right. Also how do you change the channell of only 1 TV? Seems like your remote would change all 3 Direct TV receivers at the same time.

No kidding. I'm looking into getting an HD-TV when we move and finally adding a DVR (we're still on the old VCR system), but the idea of paying $500 (plus another $100 for an off-area antenna for local channels) just for the privilege of paying a monthly lease fee for the equipment, is ridiculous. I don't really care about them going to a leasing system, but to also charge what amounts to a purchase charge on top of the monthly lease charge...I don't understand why I would do that.

At least if I go with HD-only, I'm only paying $100. When I call to inquire about what they can do for me, I'm going to play hardball and see if they will cut me a decent deal. If not, I'm going to seriously consider losing Sunday Ticket and switching to digital cable. I think Adelphia would be my cable company in Kentucky.

Wow I'm pretty suprised. Our marketing people tell us that only about 10% of Dish people have NFL Sunday Ticket. Of course I expected it to be higher on here since this is a message board regarding a football game!

I'm hearing more and more people talk about ditching DirecTV and switching to cable once the Series III TIVO's with Cablecard start shipping and using those as their DVRs (so you're not stuck with the lousy DVRs the cablecos ship). I may well be one of them (as mentioned above, I feel Sunday Ticket is overpriced; get it down to $150 including HD games and I might consider it).

Did anyone have problems with the local channel blackout yesterday? Yesterday when I went to watch the games it no different than the past two years, games carried by local cable not available.

yeah...i had the eagles and jets games blacked out on sunday ticket...i had to keep going to my local channels when i wanted to put the philly game on....it was actually pretty annoying because i couldnt tune to it from the interactive scoreboard...i had to actually key it in whenever i wanted to go there.

I had a similar dilemna when I got DISH last year. I ended up paying a $250 "upgrade fee" for the DISH HD DVR. However, this one receiver controlled two TVs (one in HD and one in SD), and allowed me to record off of both and watch on either. The main reason I went for it was that we had two TVs, only one of which was HD, and we wanted the DVR on at least one. I could have gotten one HD receiver and an SD DVR (and paid the extra $5/month for two receivers), but not be able to record in HD. So, I figured the $5/month I'm saving helps pay off the $250, and I'm paying the difference for the extra DVR benefits.

I noticed it, too, but it didn't affect me as much because I mostly watched the HD feeds, and those weren't blacked out. I got the Cincy game on HD with no problem, but it was blacked out on the regular channel.
