Who is on your ignore list?

This could be a controversial or touchy subject but as usual you dont have to post in here if you dont want to AND no one will know if youre telling the truth or not. But I was just wondering, Im sure others wonder too. I know sometimes no one responds to my comments, which could be for plenty of different reasons from disdain to ignoring me but I was just wondering. Perhaps no one will put theirs up here, I dunno. Curious I guess.

I dont have anyone on mine but man have I been tempted and wondered if my FOFC days would be more enjoyable if I did. Ive seen others comment that they have people on theirs for that exact reason, to enjoy their visits here and wonder if it works.

It may not be best for a mod to have anybody on their ignore list.

I have never used the ignore list on any message board I have ever been on. I don't understand the purpose of it. Posts are like commercials - if you don't want to watch, turn the channel.

43 names, a few of which I don't believe are here anymore, but I haven't culled the list for that in a while. Basically, there's two sets of people on there -- those who are simply unredeemable idiots that I have no interest in ever seeing anything from (one-note trolls & a few regulars fall into this category) and those who I find offensive/unpleasant/ unwanted more often than not, so making their posts be "on-demand only" viewing makes my overall FOFC experience more enjoyable (pretty much limited to regulars /semi-regulars in this category)

And, as I think we've discussed before, you aren't on it

Blackie is the only one on my ignore list after my fight with him. He rarely seems to post here anymore so I guess it doesn't matter. Generally, I agree with Ksyrup though.

In place of the actual post, there is a message that says someone on your ignore list has posted. You just click a link to view the message.

I always figure that I'll go one of two ways. I'll either have nobody on my ignore list or once I start adding, it'll contain a whole bunch of people who annoy me. So far I've remained in the first camp. Then again, I skip a lot of the politics threads because I prefer to remain ignorant about the rantings and opinions of several people that post in those.

Edit: I just had to add the quote from Mr. Costanza... "I've got a lot of problems with you people."

In my experience, no. You end up seeing what they wrote when someone quotes them anyway, so it's kind of pointless.

I have spent several hours putting every member of FOFC on my ignore list. It was a lot of work, and requires a ton of upkeep as new members join, but I love having an FOFC-free FOFC experience. Why would I want to read what the rest of you have to say, when I could just revel in what I have to say more and more?

I used to not have anyone on ignore. But in the last month or two, I've added four people, just because they seem to have an insatiable urge to push political opinions I don't want to hear, or, in one case, they simply seem to have nothing better to do than take shots at me every time I post. I overlooked it for a while, but I finally decided it was better to block what they said completely (and manually view anything that was on-topic that I might want to read from them) then to spend all my time here getting pissed off at them.

Actually, it really isn't that big of a deal. The person on my ignore list is there for personal reasons, not because he's a person who has continuously caused problems. I can still see the persons posts if quoted (so any major issue could be seen pretty quickly by the tone of the thread as a whole anyway)

For Ksyrup it's like commercials, you turn them off and they go away. For me, I kind of like the VCR or TIVO with the commercial skp feature and that's what ignore does.

To top it all off, it's not like the ignore feature is a locked feature I cannot change. If someone were to ever send me an e-mail regarding problems, it would take me all of ten seconds to change the setting.

I've only got two on my list at the moment. Most of the people who have made my list have been trolls (mostly political trolls) who came to the board swinging and never tried to become part of the community first. I can handle people with strong opinions, but I would much prefer they try to become part of the group and not just take short from the outside.

The only non-troll to make my list just struck me as an idiot that never had anything worthwhile to say. I check a few of his posts from time to time, but still have never seen anything worth reading. If only I could make threads started by this person keep from showing up, I'd be very happy.

I'm curious as to who are the most ignored members of the community. I would think I would rank somewhere on that list. I wonder how many people ignore HA. I think FranklinNoble would appear on some lists, but I'm not sure how many. For some reason, I think JoninMiddleGA would be on very few lists despite the fact that he might say the most outrageous things. Of course, since people in this thread aren't inclined to be very forthcoming, I doubt we will ever get the answer. But my curiousity remains.

I had two people on my ignore list for awhile, but I recently removed one, b/c he only went on there for one thread that was really bothering me but otherwise I don't have a problem with his posts. the other one went on ages ago for being a moron and while I'm not angry about the comments he made that caused him to go on ignore, i have zero intention of ever taking him off the list

I had as many as ten on the list around election time when the political stuff got out of hand for a while, but now I have none. If there was a "total ignore" option so that posts and threads by the user totally disapeared instead of just being replaced by the "click her to view the post" I might use it a bit more.

I don't see a need to call a person out. The ignore feature isn't designed to "punish" the person, IMO. It is a way of making FOFC more pleasant for me. I don't want to start a flamewar that no one really wants to read by listing someone as ignored. And I also don't want to insult someone in that way--even if it is someone who I dislike. YMMV.

Besides, what if the person responded by trying to contact me to find out why he is being ignored? That would be the opposite of what I want.

So, no names seems like a good idea.

OK. Chubby, GoldenEagle, some dude whose name starts with B but I forgot (he doesn't post anymore so I removed him). The other two I have removed. I'm virtually certain Chubby will get ignored again, but I doubt GE will until it is NCAA Basketball Tournament time again

Exactly my thoughts, nobody can piss me enought in an internet board just using words that i can skip. Also i'm never into "virtual" fights, in fact, in the years i have been a FOFC member i had only one fight related to hunters, i must admit it was a stupid fight and i can't even remember who were my rivals.
