Hey mark

My one complaint is that far too often a player, on a throw-in, throws the ball directly down the line but a few feet out of bounds in essence acting retarded and giving the other team the ball. No one is hurt, and it was not a play of sportsmanship to make up for someone kicking it out to allow the physios on the field. Why wuld they do that? Not even a child would do that so often in a pee wee game.

Yeah, I see that about once every game or so. I think its a flaw in the AI that lets the player throwing-in think that there's someone else down there.

The better questions is why wuld you use two different spellings for Marc's first name?

new question ... so, I signed my backup goalkeeper to a new contract ... he accepted, and has disappeared? He's not on any of my rosters.

If I had the knowledge of American Football to do so then I would definitely consider it, however my knowledge of the sport isn't sufficient to do it properly (Jim on the other hand ..... ).

PS> We're always tuning and improving the match engine ... I realise its not perfect (and will probably never be) ..... but we'll keep evolving it in the right direction ...

Well knowing nothing about your company maybe you have a little change for R&D why not give it a try. The potential for profit considering how FM has turned out is huge.

Thats not how I approach making games I'm afraid - we make Soccer games because we're passionate about football, we've branched out into Hockey and Baseball because we found teams who were good designers and coders who were equally passionate about those sports.

I don't believe that doing some R&D and simulating the stats from American Football matches would give me a 'great' sim - that requires love of the sport which allows the minor nuances involved in it to be implement and draw a player into its virtual world.

Finally - at present SI have expanded considerably over the last few years and as such we're giving things time to 'settle' before considering further expansion.

Did he sign on a Bosman or on a free transfer that comes through when his current contract ends? This is quite common. You'll complete the signing, but part of the deal is that he can't join the team until his current contract ends. You save money that way. See Butterof69's dynasty thread, where he's doing this quite a bit.

Can you look on the 'search page' and see if you can locate him through that so we can try and work out whats happened?

(long shot is he might have retired due to an injury or similar - you'd have recieved news but might have missed it)

or possibly he got signed for your reserve squad, or he is injured or otherwise unavailable for the match that is upcoming and you have filters setup to exclude that

This thread seems to be as good as any to make this known:

I swear to god you are going to get me fired. (I bought WWSM 2006 yesterday)

He was not on my reserve or U18 roster - I used the search function to find him, and there he was, shown as a current member of my squad. I flipped back to my roster and he wasn't there. I went back to the search page, and offered him ANOTHER new contract, which he accepted and is now on my roster. Some odd bug?

Hmmm sounds very very odd - are you using a third party skin by any chance? (as it might be a display issue).

Also can you move him to a different squad and see if he's visible, also try sorting the squad he's meant to be in and see if he appears and another player disappears ..

(yeah you guessed, just running through semi-logical steps trying to work out whats happening - once we've done that hopefully I'll know how to 'fix' it ...)

No third party skin.

I did try moving him, but I forget what happened - I seem to fixed the problem by offering him the same contract again, which he accepted. He then appeared on my roster. I don't know if he's getting paid twice.

Hmmmm, any possibility of combining SI with Solecismic to make a truly incomparable american football game?

i've been hammering Marc on that since I first saw him posting on these boards. it's something he has said in the past he would be interested in, barring the complications of Jim being unwilling to relocate, but SI are not looking to add any games to their stable at this point, although he did say that if they were looking at American Football, Jim would be top of their list.

(and I hope i'm not putting words in your mouth here Marc, feel free to smack me down if i am)

I believe that's been Marc's stance for awhile. No comment coming forth from the Solecismic end.

Not true. I saw my cousin's kid play last weekend, and she did that at least twice.
