FOF4: Game killing bug? -- HELP!

Ugh..

I've loaded up FOF4 for the first time.. I went in and per what Bee had done, I started in 1987 with an OPU 20 mil salary cap in order to sim through 2002 and start my season..

I'm on 2002, saving after every season on auto, and all of a sudden I go to the amateur draft and there are NO players... So if i tell the scout to draft, it bombs the game..

If I load up my saved copy, and it does the same thing..

ANyone seen this, know how to fix this?

I could import a TCY draft for one year... that will mess up balance some, but not a major thing.. except i don't want to have to do this every year..

I did the same set-up but haven't had the same problems -- just to be sure, this did not happen until 2002? The firs thing I would try is using a TCY draft and quicksim the season real quick to see if that fixes it. Otherwise it sounds like you may have to start it over.

Dola again..

Gotta start over anyways.. I loaded the Historical draft files just to test, and accidently saved over what I had.. I definately don't want any real player names in there, so back to the drawing board.. hopefully this won't happen again this time, it takes awhile..

One comment - the OPU isn't truly a "One Player Universe", you need to create one player on a roster AND one player in the draft pool in order to get it to work properly. So, in reality, it's a 2PU.

I just reproduced the exact problem -- everything was fine until 2002, then nobody in the draft. Very unusual, I'm going to try a TCY file to see if I can fix it.

I had the same thing. I didn't create a player in the draft part initially and had assumed that was the problem. You would think it would mess up the first year, but it didn't.

I used a TCY draft file and the following season the game generated draft was fine.

I'm thinking that the problem might result from the game's ability to begin prior to the 2002 draft with the real players -- how exactly that's causing a problem I don't know, but it seems like the most likely reason considering the timing of the problem.

if you need a FOF4 draft file for 2002, let me know and I'll email one to you when I get home tonight.

I never thought of that. I did another league starting in 1970, but I started using TCY files in 2002.

Just had this same problem, didn't know it existed until now. I've been simming a league since 1969 for use beginning in 2003 (I'm finally sending my Rutgers players to the pros!)

Pretty annoying bug.

Has anyone e-mailed Jim about this? Just in case he can fix it for the next summer patch.
