FOF MP: 2011 IHOF Season

This thread is going to be an attempt at making a league-wide dynasty for the IHOF. Down the road, the hope is to also have a dynasty thread to re-cap the history of the IHOF, but it something that is going to take time.

The goal with this dynasty is to give an overall picture of what is happening with the league, rather than an in-depth focus on any one team. For that, you will have to check out any individual dynasties that pop-up, for now the only one is MIJB's for his Maassluis Merchantmen that I will link at the bottom (great dynasty btw!).

This will include weekly results and selections of our articles writting by our Media and Vultures. This group is a combination of owners and non-owners that write a multitude of interesting articles throughout the year to make the league more interested. As good as the group we have is, we are always look for more writers. If you are interested in writing, feel free to check out the website and start writing. If you would like more specifics, PM me here or at the IHOF website as I am the "media relations director". Essentially I help organize things, get graphics done for media members, get layouts done, etc.

Each season begins with the IHOF Monthly that is written by the IHOF Media. It includes a great summary of each team, major off-season moves, draft results and grades, and other various articles. I considered doing a straight re-post of the magazine here, but realized that it would just be too much to put on here. I am going to select some key parts and then I will instead link you to the thread on the IHOF boards found here - http://www.fof-ihof.com/phpBB2/viewt...er=asc&start=0

So, I will re-post some specific pieces, but that being said, if you are going to follow this dynasty I urge you to read it as it gives you a ton of background on last season and info about the teams for this season. Plus it is just a great effort.

Here is the table of contents if you are interested to see what is included:

  • State of IHOF Address
  • AOC Northeast Preview
  • AOC Deep South Preview
  • The Musings of Scrawls
  • AOC Southeast Preview
  • AOC Europe Preview
  • A Look At Rushing in the IHOF
  • NAC Midwest Preview
  • NAC Atlantic Coast Preview
  • Dr. K's 2011 Predictions
  • NAC Mid-Atlantic Preview
  • NAC West Preview
  • Bonus: Ray Ray Lyle Promo DVD

The Northeast was at it again. Three teams finish 12-4, and the "worst" team in the division finished 10-6, which would have won three of the other divisions in the league. Three of the top four offenses in totaly yardage hail from the Northeast, and the Northeast represented the AOC in the IHOF Championship game via Syracuse, and won it in the most thrilling IHOF Bowl ever.

"Syracuse is stout, but I imagine the Plague will be more motivated than ever. Boston and Rochester will get caught in the aftermath. North Plainfield magages to squeak out a division title as they hold their own in the head-to-head battle. Rochester takes third as the Rhinos just aren't deep enough to compete." - Scrawls

What our staff thinks...

"When in doubt, vote Plague. Expecting a four-horse race, that's what I did." - Statler

"For seasons, we've talked about North Plainfield being the favorites in the division until someone knocks them off. Same thing this season...only now it's the Mohawks." - Dr. K

"It seems a bit crazy to go against NPL or the defending champs, but I have a feeling about Rochester's offense--Williamson, Nightingale, Collins, Logan. I'm thinking that the Lake Monsters take a close three way race." - Floyd B. Boudreau

"I think Rochester will be able to pull the division win out this year. North Plainfield lost too many key players due to their cap situation, Boston isn't quite ready yet, and Syracuse was a fluke last year. Yeah, I said it. With Jackie Williamson and last year's #1 rushing attack, they're going to be hard to beat again. But it will be close (of course)." - George W Bush

"Syracuse deserves the respect of a preseason pick after last year, but it'll come down to four key plays and one major injury in this division; could be anyone's ballgame." - IHOFGuru

"The times of the Plague dominating this league are over. Syracuse has become a solid team, and as defending champs they are the team to beat." - Waldorf

San Antonio was again the dominant team in this division, winning it by 5 games. The rest of the division was a dissapointment, particularly Telluride who ends at 3-13 and has not shown the threat to this division that many expected.

The New Sh*tcan Division. I don't see a 10 win season from any of these teams. San Antonio has traditionally done very well despite expectations, but that's because nobody has stepped up to challenge them. Vicksburg has some talent, but Bradley Keil is no savior. They are probably a second place team, but may win it by sheer luck. Forth Worth has improved and is a bit of a wildcard with a new owner. It will come down to a three team race between the Vols, the Vipers and the Fury with the Vipers winning it by a fang. Telluride will win though. The #1 pick. - Scrawls

What our staff thinks...

"I won't play the Volunteers' last trick card anymore, they're good enough to dominate the Deep South until McMasters calls it quits." - Statler

"Bradley Keil to the rescue!" - Waldorf

"I feel weird picking against San Antonio, but I just have a feeling that Vicksburg will pull it out. Good defense and a good running game." - Floyd B. Boudreaux

"This is San Antonio's division to lose until someone else proves otherwise. Vicksburg could pull it off if San Antonio only had 8 or 9 wins, but I don't see that happening." - George W. Bush

"It doesn't have to be San Antonio here, but I'm picking them until McMasters' arm falls off." - IHOF Guru

"The Volunteer run is as good as over. Time for someone else to step up and Vicksburg's got the inside track" - Dr. K

The Southeast was up for grabs right up to the end of the season, where Orlando squeaked it out by 1 game at 9-7 over Conyers and Georgia. The division did very well against NAC competition, only losing 6 to them, but did not fair so well against the AOC.

"I'm not too sold on the switch from Cole Dean to Randy Reagor, but I don't see any of the other teams as strong enough to hold Nate Sutter and co. from a division title." - Statler

What our staff thinks...

"Year in and year out, Georgia is there...but with Tucker improving, Orlando improving and a consistant threat in Conyers, their chances may be fading away" - Dr. K

"I believe Georgia will have the most potent offense in the league this year. They bring out Nate Sutter, a newly added Randy Reagor, and one of the best receiving corps in the league adds another young stud. I think they could march all of the way to a championship." - Waldorf

"This is a very tough division. I could see any of the teams taking the division. Tucker has improved significantly from their horrendous campaign two seasons ago, but aren't quite ready to claim the title. I think that will be between Conyers and Georgia, with Orlando in the mix until late. Look for Tucker to play serious spoiler late in the year as they will improve as the season goes on." - Scrawls

"I love what Tucker is doing, but they are still a year away. If Georgia does not win it this year, then Nate Sutter is going to have to decide if he should go where his talents can actually lead to some wins." - Floyd B. Boudreaux

"Georgia was good enough without Reagor, but if he plays anywhere near where he is capable of, they'll run away with the division and march far in the playoffs this season." - George W. Bush

"Georgia has the talent on paper, but has never been able to put it together to on-field results. Conyers lost too much, the pick is Orlando until Sutter, Reagor, and the rest can make it mean something." - IHOF Guru

Another slugfest to see who can win the division at 8-8 in Europe. They'll say it's because they're all so good they split games, I say they're just not that good and that's why they end up with 8-8 and 9-7 winners. Oh, and Bordeaux won the tie-breaker.

"Whomever wins this division, we know they'll be 8-8 or 9-7. I think this is the year that Paris finally breaks the trend of the late season collaps. We'll call it the "Tyrus Shaye effect." - Waldorf

What our staff thinks...

"Someone told me the Vineyards are going to switch from Joe Johnson to Carl Manning pretty soon. Those quarterback changes go with ups and downs. Gothenburg isn't ready yet, Paris always chokes. That leaves Maassluis with an 8-8 record." - Statler

"This 'should' be the year the Musketeers break through. They had the team last year, but flat out choked. The other three teams should battle right up to the end for second place and a chance at the wildcard." - Scrawls

"I think that this is the year that Louie Flannery breaks through for Maassluis. Europe looks pretty weak this year, and I can see Massluis making some noise." - Floyd B. Boudreaux

"I can see Maassluis reclaiming Europe this year. Bordeaux faced a cap-crunch this offseason, and had to say goodbye to a few familiar faces like Harold Wells. Gothenburg is going to have a difficult year. And while Paris might be able to win the division, they'd likely have to win 6 or 7 right out of the gate to hedge against their late season slumps that we're expecting from them." - George W. Bush

"Gothenburg always puts a solid team together and surprises folks." - IHOF Guru

"Your guess is as good as mine...Bordeaux probably has the inside track, but I wouldn't be surprised if any of the four make a run at the division crown" - Dr. K

The 2010 season was a remarkable one. None of the four teams seemed willing to win the division. In the end, the Anachronism couldn't stop winning and took their sixth division title in seven seasons. But with an 8-8 record for the Mid-West's division champs, it might be a bit too much to party about that feat. For 2011, a three-horse race could be possible, but it depends more on the Anachronism's ability to get rid of their tradition slow start, rather than the ability of the Raiders and Miners to win games. And don't count the newly named Muscatine Mosquitoes out just yet, they might suck a little less than their name suggests.

After the all-losing-record season, the division just partially recovered. The Ospreys and Sharks recovered and managed winning records, but overall the division stayed put at 24 wins. In 2011, the Axemen and Isotopes are looking at their rookie quarterbacks to turn the tide and to catch up with the two other teams.

What our staff thinks...

"Asheville and Springfield are not ready, while Miami hasn't been able to beat Outer Banks in years." - Statler

"This may sound strange, but I think that Spuds could have the best performance from a rookie QB that this league has ever seen. Some may think that the Isotopes are sponsored by Haliburton, but if not this year then within the next two Springfield will be a title contender." - Waldorf

"Interesting that Patrick McDonnell is probably already the best quarterback in this division, and he hasn't even played a regular season snap. However, the Topes just don't have enough talent around him for them to contend for the division. Miami showed some promise last year, but really overachieved. The Axemen start a new era, but I don't think they'll be able to treat LumberDome fans to a division title. So, by process of elimination, the Dirty Birds sit atop the Sh*tcan." - Scrawls

"For a lack of a better option, I'm choosing Outer Banks for division champion with the help of a resurgent Raymond Flowers. Springfield is too young, Asheville hasn't recovered yet, and Miami is Miami." - George W. Bush

"Springfield is at least a season away; I think Outer Banks holds on for one more hurrah." - IHOF Guru

"I'm a big believer in the Dirty Birds this year. They're my sleeper pick to go all the way" - Dr. K

Traditionally a strong division and in 2010 they set a new mark. With a combined 39 wins, the set a new NAC record (never mind that the AOC Northeast has that kind of totals every year). The Red Menace posted their most impressive season to date, rightfully claimed the division and even conference title and don't show any signs of slow-down yet. In 2011 the hopes are on the Colonials and Fightin' Bums quarterbacks to stay healthy all-season and challenge the Chitterlings for second place.

"I think this is the year that Chesapeake breaks the grip of the Red Menace. They've been getting progressively better each season, and have historically had success against Frederick that could help them win a close battle." - George W. Bush

What our staff thinks...

"I didn't feel like going on a limb and vote against the Red Menace." - Statler

"This is a tough division to predict. Frederick, Chesapeake and *cough* Brooklyn *cough* have all assembled some fine talent, and Williamsburg ain't no slouch either. I think the Colonials will bring up the rear, but any one of the other teams could bring the division crown home. Since Frederick has managed to handle the Chits, I'll give them the nod, closely followed by the guys in the pitty lello. Brooklyn might be another Rochester in that they might win 10 games and still get shut out of the playoffs." - Scrawls

"The Red Menace give no reason to believe that they will not continue to control this division." - Waldorf

"The Red Menace have quietly been the best team in the league the past two seasons. This is the year they get the respect they deserve" - Dr. K

"Frederick. I can't imagine why anyone would pick against these guys now. All they do is win and keep the core of the team together." - Floyd B. Boudreaux

"An underrated division, top-to-bottom - any of these guys could win somewhere else; but Frederick has to be the team to beat." - IHOF Guru

With an impressive performance early in the season, the NorthStars set the tone for reclaiming the top of the division. Behind them, the Blizzard held off the late rallying Burn and the somewhat surprisingly good performing Visigoths. For 2011, expect a bit more of the same. The Burn were hit hard by injuries already, while the Visigoths might miss the players to make a push for a winning record. Expect to only see the division winner to have a winning record in what is doubtfully a strong schedule season for all four teams.

What our staff thinks...

"I don't believe in Boulder or California Dreaming. Fairbanks it is." - Statler

"Fairbanks is going for a one last hurrah, and I think it will work." - Waldorf

"Out in the west, Fairbanks looks like they've geared up for another run at the title. Can Joey get a third ring?" - Dr. K

"Fairbanks has loaded up the recieving corps to give Joey Allen some targets to throw to. Honestly, the Throw Bombs could make Ryan Leaf look like a pro-calber quarterback. However, you might not be able to see the Stars due to the approaching Blizzard. The Boys from Boulder have grown into men and will present a serious challenge to Fairbanks. In fact, I think they'll live up to the challenge and unseat the defending division champion Northstars. San Luis Obispo and Ananhiem will battle it out for the basement, and I think the Visigoths can put out the fire." - Scrawls

"There's no stopping Fairbanks this season with the weapons they've added for Joey." = George W. Bush

"Gotta go with Fairbanks." - IHOF Guru

And we have a wrap-up of some major off-season moves revolving around the running back position, followed by a link to a video montage of the premier RB in the league.

It's often been said in the IHOF that you need a passing offense to win, that you need a big name QB to win. But where does this leave the other side of the ball? No, not the defense, I'm talking about the running game. You know, the guys that take the heat off of those big money QBs. And, in the very rare circumstances, the guys that are expected to carry a few teams.

Just take a look at the rushing leaders from the 2010 season, and you'll notice more than a few teams that are no stranger to reaching the playoffs. Perennial powerhouses Fairbanks and North Plainfield boast high powered running games to match their potent quarterbacks. You'll also find the supporting cast of Jackie Percy and Jackie Williamson near the top of the list. This begs the question of if having a standout QB is only half of the solution to fielding a successful team in the IHOF. Do you need a balanced attack like these four teams have exhibited? Obviously the quarterback is an important element, but what about those teams that like to run more than they pass? Can they be as successful as their counterparts with balanced offenses?

For an example of a run-first minded team, we have to look no further than Bordeaux. The Vineyards were the most prolific rushing team last season in terms of attempts, clocking in a league-high 667 tries. They didn't make much noise in the playoffs, but they did reach them after winning the European division with an 8-8 record, while elevating Bam Bam Jamerson to the league MVP award. Obviously, an 8-8 record is less than what most teams will aim for, and it is only because of Paris choking yet again that it was enough to take home the European crown. Surely, there must be more cases of the teams leading the IHOF in carries to examine.

Number two on the list is the Rochester Lake Monsters, with 595 rushing attempts last season. They were just as successful with Jackie Williamson passing the rock as they were running with it, so we'll move on to number three, the Springfield Isotopes. Springfield rushed 582 times last season, and it proved extremely unsuccessful, leading to Raymond Flowers' exile from Springfield. The 2010 Springfield Isotopes are a classic example of what happens when all you're able to do is run the ball, with no quarterback to provide any sort of a second offensive weapon. Opposing defenses loaded up the box against Springfield, and the result was a 1-15 season. Obviously they've taken steps in the offseason to prevent this from happening in 2011, but they can take last year's performance as a learning experience. Obviously this proves that you cannot have a scrap heap QB leading your team while you pound the rock all game long.

While Vicksburg isn't as dependent on the running game as they have been in the past, they are still perceived to be a run-first and run-only team. With 552 rushing attempts last season, it's easy to see why. Even with Ronnie Kemp's reduced role last season and Jack Singleton getting more carries, the similarities are easily drawn with Springfield. After all, this is a team that was less than stable in the QB department, with 4 different quarterbacks attempting more than 50 passes. This is not how you win games, and is part of the reason why Vicksburg has produced multiple 8-8 seasons instead of joining the elite teams of the IHOF. The Vipers and Ronnie Kemp clearly show us how far a talented running back can take a team on his own, which is how he's been doing it. Is this a problem? When you have a guy who has been as heavily relied on as Kemp has been, the wheels can start to fall off, which we may very well be seeing the beginning of. So what's the solution here? A talented passing game and a RB? Two RBs? That's how some teams are trying to tackle things.

Orlando checks in with 561 rushing attempts. It is a little variation of the offensive philosophy, as we see their two-headed monster of Juan Davis and Donnell Marchelewski pounding the rock, and rising star QB Ted Wolf running the show. Much like Rochester, they provided a balanced offense, and it paid off for them as they won the AOC Southeast division and a trip to the playoffs.

This strategy was also employed by Outer Banks en route to winning the NAC Atlantic Coast division. Here, it was RBs Israel Mars and George Bravo running the show in the backfield, with Rufus Preston gunning the ball. While Preston isn't as prolific as Ted Wolf or the QBs mentioned before him, the philosophy remains. These teams are winning games and division championships by having a running game to take the heat off of a respectable QB, something that extreme cases such as Springfield and Vicksburg were lacking.

So, who's right? I suppose the true question is if there even is a right answer to this question. Obviously, you need a talented QB to be able to survive in this league. But can the running game be so easily dismissed? I don't think so. Look back to the stats of the top rushing teams in the IHOF, and you will see every team that has won the IHOF championship, with an exception of the most recent entry, Syracuse. If this tells us anything, it's that teams who have historically had success in the IHOF have been very balanced. Or, at least, teams that have won the championship in the past became very balanced during the 2010 season.

Sure, the teams have changed a bit with Fairbanks switching from the Snow Bombs to a running game featuring Dana Stenstrom and Mark Halley. Also in Ann Arbor with the arrival of Ray Lyle. The thing that remains the same is that they all win. Why do you think we routinely see the same teams duking it out at the end of the season for bragging rights? Simply because they have figured out what the rest of us only think we know. You need a balanced team to win in this league. The quarterback might be the glamour position of pretty boys like Nick Lincoln, but don't forget the running back, the wheel that makes everything spin. I'm not saying to go Springfield crazy with the running game, but find the right balance and you'll find the key to success.
The RB Merry-Go-Round

Now that we have established that having a good running game is nearly as important as a big-time QB, let's take a look at all of the running back movement this offseason has seen. Through trades, free agency, and the draft, several teams will be suiting up new players at these positions. Some of them may be crap shoots, while others have brought in a known commodity to help jump start the offense.

We begin in Paris, who brought in 2nd year RB Steve 'Slammer' Stokes from Tucker. This was part of the mega-huge trade that sent WR Tyrus Shaye packing for Tucker. As of right now, it is not known whether or not Stokes will get the starting nod ahead of legend Joe Boulware, but it is a definite possibility. Also in the European division, Maassluis brings in a new starter at running back, both trying to keep up with Paris as well as avoid another disaster of a season. Early offseason action brought them Courtney Osgood from the Boston Rhinos. Throughout his career, Osgood has been a system player, only reaching 200 carries in one season. He has shown flashes of brilliance, and we'll see if that trend continues as he becomes the featured back for the Merchantmen.

In the NAC Atlantic Coast division, teams didn't have to look very far for their new RB acquisitions this season. You could use the term "pissing in their own pool", because two teams here will have to face their former rock twice a season, and a third will be starting a new rookie at RB. Draft day trades sent Israel Mars to Miami from Outer Banks, as well as Raymond Flowers to Outer Banks from Springfield. Trading Raymond Flowers and picking up an additional first round pick (1.11), meant that Springfield could use the 1.9 on their new starting RB. Will Davidson from Stanford will be thrown into the fire from day 1, as he tries to replace the departed Raymond Flowers, which won't be an easy job. But he'll have more help than Flowers ever did, with the arrival of #1 overall pick Patrick McDonnell taking the reigns in Springfield. Davidson will be able to relax and not have to carry the whole team as was the case with Flowers.

Speaking of teams with rookies at running back, the Syracuse Mohawks had an interesting offseason to consider. Throughout mini-camp, training camp, and the preseason, they have been so impressed with 7th round pick Floyd Cumming, that they were able to trade away the man that helped them reach championship status. Trading Kurt Basso to Conyers might have surprised some teams, but getting a pair of third round picks for a player who may not be needed as the season goes on is a wise move.
In Conyers, picking up Basso was much needed, as they had to have a replacement for the departed Randy Reagor. Sending Reagor off to Georgia might not be a popular decision by the fans, but his production made it a necessary evil. For a #1 overall pick, Reagor's production was definitely not up to the standards that the Condors organization was expecting. Getting good value for Reagor and picking up Basso was good for this organization, depending on how well Basso fits in with the rest of the guys on the squad.

Perhaps the biggest or most publicized free agent signing this year was Ronald Reinke leaving North Plainfield to sign with the Telluride Outlaws. Signing a 5 year, $53.46 million dollar contract, Reinke was the big winner of free agency, as $20.25 million dollars of his contract is guaranteed. The Outlaws are hoping Reinke will provide the punch to the running game that can take some heat off of QB Nick Lincoln. If this signing works out as planned, the Outlaws may soon return to the form that they haven't seen since the days of Norm Rizzo. And if it doesn't, well, they've just screwed their financial future.

With all of these running backs floating around the league and switching teams, it remains to be seen whether or not they will be able to be productive in their new systems. Surely there will be growing pains for all teams involved, as their team chemistry is sure to take a hit with all of the new blood in the water. By season's end, we should be able to tell which teams made the right choices, and which teams were wrong. Will Randy Reagor prove to be the missing link in the Georgia offense? Did Syracuse make a huge blunder in expecting a rookie to fill in for Basso? And which NAC Atlantic Coast team will come away from their draft RB trading circle jerk with the division title? All of these questions and more are sure to be answered as we watch the RBs pound the defenses in the way football was meant to be played.

These are the items I intend to include every week, with selected articles, etc. to be included as we go along. I expect more commentary as we get further into the season.

Any feedback as to what to include/not to include would be great!

You had to cap it at 5, didn't you?

By FOF_Stats

(Ranking-Team logo-Last week ranking-Team record-Ranking points-Change ranking points)
_______________________________________________________
1. (4) – 2-0 – 99.600 – (+2.489)
Comment:The front office might downplay the Conti injury in the press but do they really want to gamble in the weeks to come? The team was 4 for 4 in the red zone this week.

_______________________________________________________

2. (12) – 2-0 – 99.083 – (+9.206)
Comment:Kurt Basso was without back-to-back 100yds rushing games since the 2009 season. Now is second in rushing with 286yds in 2 games.

_______________________________________________________

3. (7) – 2-0 – 98.911 – (+4.211)
Comment: It’s the 8th time in franchise history that Miami rushes for more then 200yds in a single game. 8 different players ran with the ball today.

_______________________________________________________

4. (5) – 2-0 – 98.567 – (+2.489)
Comment: Got the win but lost Billy Jamerson for 3 weeks. TE Josh Whitehurst leads the team in receiving and now has more yards then the entire last season.

_______________________________________________________

5. (2) – 2-0 – 98.222 – (-3.367)
Comment:Only scored a single TD on 5 visits to the red zone. Ted Wolf is the only player to average more then 10yds pr pass attempt after two weeks of play.

A Brief History of IHOF - NAC Midwest Division

Ann Arbor Anachronism
- Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Owned and Operated by Jim (AkA Solecismic), the Anachronism are one of the most successful franchises in IHOF History. They were winners of IHOF Bowl II, and have appeared in 4 of 7 North American Conference (NAC) championship games (though only advancing to the IHOF Bowl once). Ann Arbor has won their division 6 times in 7 years, only failing to win it (or make the playoffs) in 2007. The team has now made the transition from one of the finest QBs in IHOF History (the retired Donald Woods) to 4th year QB Zach Downing. 3rd-year Running Back Ray Ray Lyle is the consensus top back in the league, and has been showered with awards both in-game and by owner vote. He has the unanimous Rookie Of The Year selection in 2009, and was named 2010 Offensive Player Of the Year by the owners.

Minnesota Miners - Located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Owned and Operated by mckerney, The Miners have been a very consitent middle-of-the road franchise, never winning less than 6 games or more than 8 in a season. They have never made the playoffs, but have never been bad team either. The team has never found a QB they could rely on, and have seen many players start at that position for them. WR Alfredo Bass is the star of the team, having earned 3 all-pro honors since coming to Minnesota.

Muscatine Mosquitoes - Located in Muscatine, Iowa. Formerly located in Columbus, Indiana. Currently owned and operated by JeeberD, formerly owned by Daimyo and TRO. A franchise with an unstable ownership history, 2011 is their first season in Muscatine under new owner JeeberD. A solid team at the inception of IHOF, Columbus qualified for the playoffs 3 times - in 2004, 2005, and in 2007. Their lone division title was in 2007. THe Muscatine franchise has been noted for a strong rushing game and good defense throughout their history. Former running back Gerald Harris (#1 all-time in rushing yardage, currently with Anaheim), and current back Joey Babbage, have been the focal point of the offense. Rookie QB Julio Toler, selected 10th overall, appears to be the player the team is banking their future on, though his ability to be that player has been questioned by some others around the league.

RayCo Raiders - Located in Nashville, Tennessee. Owned and Operated by FBPro, the Raiders are the winningest team to never qualify for the playoffs. The team often finds themself one game short of their goal at season's end. The face of the franchise is QB Brady Holmes, a 4th year player who was selected 4th overall in the 2008 draft. Brady has been inconsistent for RayCo, and the team has seen extremely hot and cold spells with Holmes behind center. 12th year CB Clarence Whyte is arguably the finest CB in IHOF History. With 5 all-pro selections and a knack for coming up with interceptions, he appears to be a sure-fire hall-of-famer.
