Players and officials.

Why is it that arguing balls and strikes can get you thrown out in baseball, but you can jump in a referee's face like Steve Nash did a few minutes ago and signal for the call you want, and it's not even a technical foul?

Play the damn game, and let the officials do their jobs.

I firmly believe that that sort of grandstanding should be a "T" in basketball and a 5 yard penalty (and replay of the previous down on offense) in football. I know what you think the call is or should be, but you're just showing up the official by dancing around like a trained monkey waving your arms.

Didn't see the play you are talking about, but from what I have always seen, it's more of what you say to an official than the way you act.

If you kick dirt on an umpire, what's going to happen? It's still a gesture that shows up the official.

Let them make their calls. Waving your hand isn't going to make the official go "Well, I thought it was short, but that guy who has a vested interest in it being a first down thinks it's across, so what the hell."

I agree 100%. I will say this, being that I have been playing baseball all my life, sometimes you just get caught up in the moment and let emotions get the best of you.

However a lot of times that is the case. The official makes a call, the player complains, another official comes in says he had a better angle, and then the call gets changed. I am not advocating players complaining to the refs about a call. I think it happens far too often. But Nash, I believe, is the captain of his team and captains are supposed to be the one player who can talk to the refs about things that happen on the court.

I think it's more about trying to influence future calls.

That and just straight up losing your temper.
