FOFC Highlander Number Game 5/17 - The Data Miner

Welcome to the May 17 edition of FOFC Highlander. The original game and the rules are in this thread: http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...ad.php?t=49716. To summarize, however, come up with an answer to my question and send it to me in PM (preferably with your guess in the title). There can be only one winner. On with the game!

-----

Sometime in the near future, through his ongoing data mining, our friendly computer QuikSand determines that FOFC user rkmsuf represents human perfection. In an effort to make himself seem more human (and to conquer the world), QuikSand studies a sample of rkmsuf's FOFC posts. QuikSand computes that he must read at least 200 words from rkmsuf in order to have enough knowledge to defeat us all.

For this exercise, assume that the following statements are true:

1. Each of rkmsuf's posts is three, four, or five words long.
2. The lengths of rkmsuf's posts are evenly distributed. That is, there are as many three-word posts as four-word posts, and as many four-word posts as five-word posts.

How many rkmsuf posts does QuikSand read to reach 200 words?

-----

I will use a random number generator to create a list of numbers. Each element of the list will be "3", "4", or "5". I will then take the running total of the elements until I reach 200 or more. Basically, I'm asking you to guess how far down the list I'll get before the total reaches 200.

Again, please send me a PM with your guess (in the title, preferably). I'll post the winner's name sometime between 4pm and 4:30pm Eastern time (a little more than 6 hours from the time of this post).

If anybody needs clarification on the puzzle, please let me know. Good luck!

Just to make sure I understand right. Say there are 9,000 posts.. There will be 3000 each of 3,4,5 words but, the posts that are read of the 9,000 are random. Correct?

Just a quick bump. We're a little more than halfway through the guessing period, so if anybody else wants to jump in, there are less than 3 hours to go.

Is there a parenthetical exception to word counting?

OK, here we go, guys.

There really wasn't anything terribly difficult about this. According to the game, the average length of a rkmsuf post is 4 words. Since QuikSand needs to read 200 words before conquering us, the average says that 50 posts would get him to his goal. Of course, things don't always work according to plan, and in this game, QuikSand actually needed to read 51 rkmsuf posts in order to rule the world. The list used in the game is shown below.

The guesses for the game ranged from 44 to 54 (which is why I've shown the list up to #54). Of the 15 entries received, there was at least one correct guess, so I can present our winner...

WOLFPACK

Congratulations, you Carolina Hurricane-loving bastard.
