From what I understand it's the story of the last two rescue workers who were pulled alive from the WTC rubble...

I actually liked JFK. I did think it was a little much, but I was entertained by the movie. This is one of the few "mysteries" where I don't really like the official story. I don't really believe in all of the involvement Stone brings in for this movie, but I also don't believe Oswald could have done what he did alone.

Why would they even think of casting him in this?

Honestly, they should've gone the no-name route. Stone, the subject, and the studio would've brought people in. Cage isn't bringing in anyone at all.

I liked it too, in that I found the movie entertaining. It's fun to watch. But hardly anything in that movie is based on fact (that's all I was saying. At this point I pretty much avoid any Nic Cage movie. He's just not someone I enjoy, and he's gotten way too many starring roles based off of one good turn in Leaving Las Vegas.

This might be worthy of another thread, but I'd be interested in hearing some of the other thoughts. Getting the 3 shots off in the allotted time was something I thought I'd heard from other sources. Many of the other "facts" I hadn't bothered to look up and I was never quite sure which were true and which were made up.

Stone can be shockingly bad as far as I'm concerned. With this topic, I'll be certainly waiting for reviews. Even if I'm surprised by overwhelmingly possitive reviews, I don't think I could elevate this above a DVD experience.

Agreed - I was expecting for the trailer to arouse the same kind of trepidation/anger that the United 93 trailer did, but I found myself actually intrigued (probably because there were no terrorists in it). And the clips of the officer's family really pulled at the heart strings. The end of the trailer was sappy, though.

Right now, I'd see this move before seeing United 93.

No, he isn't all bad, but he's most bad. I loved him in "Raising Arizona". He was good in Leaving Las Vegas and some others. But that doesn't make up for his crap-ass acting in films like "The Rock", "Con Air", "Face Off", and his worst "8MM". He basically is horrible in any sort of "action" role. No idea what he's supposed to be playing here, other than a fireman, so he may not to be too bad. Though I enter all films with a presumption that he will suck.

I like Nicholas Cage. Although I can't disagree with any of the criticism posted here. I guess his acting is a guilty pleasure[sp?]. Honeymoon in Vegas is one of my top 18 comedies.

As far as world trade center goes, the trailer looks good, definitely more hollywood than Flight 93, but I don't know if i want to see either.

Just saw the trailer... wow... some of those scenes in the WTC when it was collapsing were just stunning. My lord. It may actually be good, but I guess it depends on the details.

Would have to be really something to top United 93, IMO, though.

I like the United 93 trailer more than this one, actually, and I liked it BECAUSE it reminded me who was responsible for this whole thing. We all need reminded from time to time who the enemy is.

Saw the preview for this yesterday when I went to see The Da Vinci Code....

First off I will say it looks lke it will be an extremely good fill. It looks very well made. Not that a preview tells you all. (Also, I am not sure if this is any different from the link above, I can't get that one to work).

With that said I doubt I will go see this. The preview alone almost had me tearing up some, but I fought it off. I wouldn't watch either of the Flight 97 based movies, this one looks 100x worst for me. Not sure what it is, but seeing this stuff has actually become harder for me as time goes on. Will probably be a damn good movie based on that preview, but I won't see it for a long time.

Platoon was sorta my story as a PV2....Except without the fraggings and the rampant drug use. As for the 9-11 movie,I guess I'll have to see.

Agreed. I don't enjoy watching him in anything and yet, he seems to mysteriously get all sorts of parts that kill the movie for me because he's the actor in that part.

Sorta like Keanu Reeves.

For those who like Cage and like dark comedies may I suggest Vampires Kiss. It's not top ten material but it's worth a watch.

If you don't like either of the above though this movie will not be for you.

As far as movie's go, I thought it was very good. As far as the subject matter goes, I should have brushed off the wife's desires to see it because I knew I wouldn't handle it well. As time goes on, seeing stuff about 9/11 has not become an easier for me. In fact I think it has become a little harder, not sure why.

Anyways, I was getting choked up from the very begining of the movie. It was hard to watch. The very light humor that was injected in here and there made others give a little chuckle but I think I did it only once in the handleful of times most others would. For most of the first half of the movie I was holding back tears. And I think I briefly had full tears twice in the second half.

Good movie. And no it doesn't 'remind you of who did it' straight out, but itwould have seemed odd too if they did. There is talk about 'those bastards' and stuff, but for the most part it is from the PAPD view, in which they really weren't sure what was going on. They didn't even show the actual plain (edit:the word is plane.

) crashes, because those guys didn't see them.

I think the scene for the movie was set very well. It was a hard thing to watch actually.

My only complaint.... the 'Marine' in the movie. He came off kind of creepy to both my wife and I. I tried to look past it because I know the guy is doing a great thing, and felt he had to do it. They just could have made him a little less odd seeming. Unless the guy is really that creepy I guess....

I'd really like to see this movie, but I don't think I could handle it...I'm with you in that it's not gotten easier for me to deal with what happened on 9/11. With the anniversary approaching, I've been thinking about it more and more and still get choked up every time. Maybe one day I'll be in the mood to go sit in the theater and cry for 2 hours...I'll just be sure to bring a box of kleenex with me!

Here's the story about the real Sgt. Thomas depicted in the movie, not only did they get his rank wrong in the movie apparently, but he was white in the movie and in real life, he's black.

The producers knew, but said it was "too late" when they started filming and that they apologized.

He was just on MSNBC tonight and sounded extremely humble and like a really good guy.
