Civ4: Fall from Heaven

Would anyone like to try a PBEM game of this mod? It looks interesting:

I've mentioned this mod before in the main Civ 4 thread, and have played it to the end 3 times already, and am looking forward to version 2 (currently in beta).

I've never done PBEM as it sounds slow and boring, but I might be interested if someone were to let me know more about how to do it.

It's certainly takes quite a lot longer to play, but requires less time. If you find 4 or 5 good people, you can get a turn done a day. One game I am playing has done 5 turns in a single day, but 1 per day is a good number.

But for alot of people who have limited time, a PBEM game is the best way to play.

Jeez, 5 turns in one day? That's absurd for a PBEM.

Absurd good, at least in my experience. The few games I've played (5-8 players) usually take about 4 days for a full turn to pass.

Jeeber is in the PBEM game, he can testify that we did indeed get 5 turns in a single day. :-)

Has anyone tried a PitBoss game yet? Seems that is the nice in-between to increase the PBEM pace.

I'd be interested - does this mod make the game goofy for any other games you're playing?

Nope. This mod is about as professional as it gets, imo.

Just doing some browsing... so this is basically a Dungeons-and-Dragons mod?

It's fantasy, but it isn't dungeons and dragons.

Ok... that's sort of what I meant.

Anyhow, I'll check it out. My only hesitation is the learning curve. With vanilla Civ, I know that my tank is probably stronger than your archer... but with something like this, I don't know if my wizard with +1 hat of lighting bolts is better than your druid with his +2 bloodninja robe.

There's a working NoCD for 1.61 now. So, patching is no longer a problem.

So, so far we have:

Schmidty
Franklin Noble
WVUFan

Looking for two more to play in the game. Any takers?

Celeval, I've not tried Pitboss yet, but that was my first choice for this game. The makers of the mod PM'ed me and told me that it was incompatable with Fall From Heaven.

I am willing to get a vanilla Civ4 game a try on Pitboss, though, in addition to this one. Let me know if your interested.

How does Pitboss work?

If y'all can't come up with anybody else I would be wiling to give this PBEM a go...

It's a persistant server that allows "PBEM" style games to be run a little quicker.

You set a "turn time limit" of, say, 24 hours. In that time frame, you can take your turn at any time. You don't have to wait for the file to come around, and everyone either takes their turn in that time limit, or the game basically skips you -- you continue to research tech, and build things you have set in your queue, but none of your unit move and nothing new gets built.

So, your basically guaranteed a turn a day (or shorter -- you set the time limit when the game is set up).

That pitboss app sounds cool... so, basically, if we get a few more of those 5-turn-a-day marathons, we can still do that, but we're guaranteed at least one per day?

Sign me up... and Sharon's in, too...

Yeah, Pitboss sounds cool...I would certainly be up for a game in that mode.

Well, Fall From Heaven can't be played with PitBoss.

So, is there more of an interested to start a new PBEM game (maybe with a larger group of people) via PitBoss? It can guarantee a turn a day that way, or would y'all rather try out the Fall From Heaven fantasy mod?
