I'm certain it does, but the second description was a more confident match when I read the two.

Hey, we had an old Captian Midnight record that I used to listen to as a kid. They had an Ovaltine ommercial on there where you could get a secret decoder ring if you bought Ovaltine. I always wanted one of those decoder rings really bad. I bet i could have decoded this binary code with it. Dang.

And there is no such thing as "binary code".

It is also easier if you know that any time you see a "message" in binary, it is really a binary representation of ASCII code. That always helps the search.

Yeah -- I tried changing a couple of the numbers from binary to decimal in excel. For the first number I got 100, for the second I got 110 (I think). My guess is that if I convert 100 to decimal, I get 4, which corresponds to D. So I guess it's something like 'double binary,' for lack of a better term.

Not quite. The ASCII code for a lower case 'a' is 97 ('A' is 65). That makes 100 a 'd'. The second series of numbers came to 111 which is a 'o'. If you ever want a really quick test for ASCII code, open a DOS prompt, hold down the ALT key and type in the number on the keypad (not the top-row numbers). You will see what the ASCII code represents. When I tried the first there number series and got 100, 111, 32 ('d', 'o', space), it looked pretty clearly like a message in binary.

It is hard to imagine that they used to have to manually search all of those 0's and 1's for programming mistakes and such.

Back in my day, we didn't have these fancy "Visual" programming languages. All we had were ones and zeros, and sometimes we didn't have the ones! I had to develop an entire inventory program once just using zeros.

Oh, and look at the first line in my sig.
