Highlander #17 - The Santa Fe Roadrunners (results posted)
The Santa Fe Roadrunners are a very streaky hockey team. They start the season as a .550 quality team. A win makes them more likely to win the next game by .025; similiarly, a loss makes them less likely to win by .025. So, if they win their first game, they are a .575 team for the next game. If they lose their first game, they are a .525 team for the next game. Maximum winning percentage is .800, minimum winning percentage .200. They play 80 games. How many games will they win?
Game will run til 1pm Mountain time. Closest answer wins, everybody else ties for second. Highlander winners to date: BrianD #12, #14 Chas in Cinti #4 digamma #9 Mustang #8, #15 Passacaglia #11 Pumpy Tudors #2, #6, #13 Raiders Army #10 st.cronin #16 Toddzilla #5 wbatl #1 Wolfpack #3, #7 edited because I forgot what time zone I live in Last edited by st.cronin : 06-13-2006 at 02:15 PM. |

Your numbers don't quite work. If they lose their first game, they should be .500...or did you mean to say they drop .025 if they lose?

There were 9 entries in this edition of Highlander, ranging from 38 to 59. The actual number of games won by this team was 42; had they won games at .550 rate, they would have won 44, which was the winning entries of Quiksand and panerd. They are declared co-winners of Highlander #17.
My guess would have been in the 50's, which is where the bulk of the answers were. Last edited by st.cronin : 06-13-2006 at 02:15 PM. |

Divide the highlander winnings in two? I will not hear of it! Please, my lord, give Quiksand the highlander crown and in no wise slay it.
