TV made me do it!
Catch phrases from movies or t.v. ( e.g., "I'll be back") infect our society all the time but usually run their course in short order. For the vast majority of cases this is a good thing.
However, there are those times when a saying, activity, or habit is picked up from a movie and t.v. show and incorporated into a person's life permanently. I was reminded of this tonight as I turned on the tube and an episode of Stargate SG1 was running and the first thing I see is Teal'c saying "indeed" and I noticed that I use "indeed" and awful lot in both written and vocal communication and I know it has to be from watching this show. I have also incorporated "d'oh" into my lexicon and not just because it reminds me of teh funny that is The Simpsons, but because it just fits the instances where it blurts out. |

I'm pretty sure Spock started that.

Spock never said "D'oh". Except when he took the cap off of the warp drive and realized the oven mitts weren't going to be enough protection.

I know Spock more for "fascinating" than "indeed" but I know I got it from Teal'c as I've watched that damn show more than just about any other show. |
