Just curious...what EPL club do you follow?

I always feel like I am the only one who roots for some of my teams here (Angels, Ducks, etc.), and I definitely get that feeling here with Boro as well.

So I was curious which club in the EPL you all root for, if you had to (or if you're a diehard like me).

Ones I know...

Katon...Chelsea
daedalus...Arsenal
Mac Howard...Man Utd
Issidiqui...Newcastle (I knew I hated you for some unknown reason )
Me...Boro

What other Premiership fans do we have here, and who do you root for?

I'm a Brighton fan - by a traversty of justice we're not currently in the Premiership, but that'll be rectified one day ...

(I also have kind of a soft spot for my wifes team - Man City, but more from a 'god if they lose she's going to be unbearable .... again' sort of way )

To the best of my knowledge, they are ("English Premier League"). Unless you want to account for the sponsor, Barclaycard.

On the other hand, I believe 'em silly English folks refers to the league as "the premiership" rather than "EPL".

I don't follow a lot the Premier league but if i need to choose a team it would be Reading.

I played my longest and more addicting career with them in CM01/02. My worst addiction to a game ever, since then i have big simpathies for them and from time to time i check how is it going for them in real life.

Manchester United. - I have been lucky enough to see them twice in the USA. When NASL folded England seemed to be the league to follow (they spoke in words i could mostly understand). With the internet i was able to follow the goings on and when fox soccer channel came about i was in heaven, i would get the ppv if manutd were playing arsenal or liverpool in the couple years before i could get the soccer channel. My wife even bought me a couple Roy Keane jerseys (one red one black). Guess i need to get a Rooney jersey now.

Palace got relegated year before last, and spent last season in the Championship, losing to Watford in the playoffs.

My team, Leicester City, has also been languishing in the Championship for the past couple of years. Although generally a yo-yo team, we had four magnificent years under Martin O'Neill where we won the League Cup twice, lost another final, played in Europe twice (albeit losing in the first tie both times :o ), and finished top half of the EPL all four years.

But then he left, we got Peter 'The Muppet' Taylor, who proceeded to destroy everything MON had done, leading us on the way to relegation before he was sacked. Mickey Adams got us back into the EPL, but we were immediately relegated again, and since then we have been unimpressive in the Championship . We were in sever danger of relegation last year, but (another) new manager Rob Kelly steered us to safety with table topping form over the last three months, giving a renewed sense of optimism.

We generally hate most teams, but Marc's Brighton is currently one of our targets, as they are managed by 'Fat' Mark McGhee, who we despise (for leaving us for Wolves, a local rival who he called a bigger club. But we got MON after him, so really we should be thankful!)

FWIW - I was basically the reason behind Rob Kelly getting his first coaching gig... Unfortunately it's not quite as impressive as that might sound

I've walked past Ashburton Gate a few times, it certainly looks very impressive. Can't be much worse than Highbury though, take away all the history and nostalgia and it was a dump.

My interest in foreign teams (English included) used to depend mostly on where my favorite Dutch players would play. A decade ago, Dennis Bergkamp moved to Arsenal. Marc Overmars stopped by for a short stint and nowadays Robin van Persie hangs out there. But then, looking at all the other top Dutch players who played in England, none really got me to cheer for their team. Not Arjen Robben (Chelsea), not Edwin van der Sar, Ruud van Nistelrooij or Jaap Stam (Manchester United), not Jerrel 'Jimmy Floyd' Haselbaink (Middlesbrough, Leeds United), not Patrick Kluivert (Newcastle United). Only Edgar Davids (Tottenham) managed it a bit.

I guess I don't really qualify as a true fan. I'm not much of a Anglosnob afterall...

You're a Real fan? I've always wondered how anyone can support Real Madrid. I suppose you get a free pass being a Madridista, but the number of mindless foriegn fans they have is astounding. I seriously don't get the appeal. The team of Franco who practically had the league rigged in their favour for decades, have always recieved preferential treatment from the authorities (the whole selling their traning facilities to the government incident was a complete joke), are so deeply in debt but don't care becuase they know no bank is going to come in and close down Real Madrid so spend without any fiscal responsibility, and their modern team ethic of getting lazy superstars who think they can slide through on talent alone and not put in any effort. I can only laugh every time they fall flat on their face and sack the manager inside his first six months, which is becoming increasingly commonplace.

Back in the day, I was a strong Wimbledon supporter. After the MK Dons fiasco  I basically becam teamless. There are a few teams I generally support in the English league, but not one that I would consider myself a strong supporter of. Also, I loathe Arsenal, so generally speaking, my favorite team is whoever they are playing each week

I'd have to say that overall my favorite team now is Barcelona. I fell in love with the city when I was there a couple years ago, and had the chance to chat with Laporta and Rijkaard while at a match.

In England, I've been a Man U fan since the days of the old Wizard Games footie sim "One-Nil" back in the late 80s/early 90s. That was my first exposure to non-NASL or MISL soccer leagues, and Man U always seemed to stand out in that game.

As for the rest of Europe, I follow Inter Milan. I've learned since then that you have to accept a lot of disappointment to be a fan of theirs.

In the Premiership, I follow Arsenal, thanks to my friends daedalus and terpkristin

I also keep very close tab on my FM all time favourites now in their second season in the Championship, the Luton Town Hatters. If by any chance somebody had a tape or a DVD of their FA Cup game against Liverpool last season, could you please PM me?

Ditto on the Inter Milan thing. They were the first team I played with in ChampMan and I cheer for them. And always end up dissapointed.

As for England, I'm pretty much in the "anyone but ManU" group. This means I'm an Arsenal and Man City fan. Third on the list would be Boro.

I don't support anybody in the EPL, I've got managers and players that I like and dislike so my cheering follows them.

The only constant is that I dislike Liverpool.

You can probably figure out my favorite squad from my user name. Actually, I forget why I chose Scholes as my name, because Roy Keane was always my favorite Red Devil. Maybe Keane was taken, or too generic. Anyway, war Man U getting Mascherano, Carrick, Lennon and another forward!

I will say, the one problem i have rooting for Liverpool is that I hate wearing the color red. And they seem to have a passion for a yellow away uniform which is even worse (the white bland one this year was passable). Makes it hard to wear the club colors to the local bar.

I'm a big Watford supporter and they just won promotion back to the Premiership this year.

Interestingly enough, I became a fan of the club after going out for a few drinks with Miles Jacobson and Riz from Sports Interactive. I hooked up with them while they were in Toronto a couple years back doing P.R. work for EHM, which I contribute research for.

Miles is a HUGE Watford fan so I took an immediate liking to them after our conversation, especially after Miles was nice enough to send me a Watford 'kit' a couple months later. Fun team to follow!

When I was a kid I got some collector cards from premier league clubs and for some reason liked Aston Villa (I think I found a team photo in some comic book or something), so then I became a Villa-fan.. but in the early 90s, I sort of swayed to Arsenal and since then I've been a Gunners-fan.
