Congrats to Oregon State on their first-ever College World Series championship. Nice to see a northwest entry from the Pac-10 grab some glory.

That was a great game last night. It literally wasn't decided until the final out. North Carolina had guys at the corners with 2 two outs, and down by a run, and the last batter hit a fly ball to the outfielder.

I was rooting hard for UNC, sucks that such a bad mistake on such a simple play allowed the winning run to score, but Oregon State played well.

Stanford usually has a good baseball team, and USC has won the most CWS titles of any team. I think the surprising part is that is was a PAC 10 team from the Pacific NW. Conventional wisdom is that it is too cold and rainy during the college baseball season for a team from that region to excel. In fact, several Oregon colleges have dropped baseball altogether.

It was win-win for me. If Carolina had won, the ACC would stand to benefit in some degree from it. But, since UNC lost...well, that entails its own degree of mild satisfaction. However, I can't stand some of our own fanbase who practically crowed with delight at the loss last night. They're kind of ignoring the fact that UNC did indeed make the final while our team stopped playing, oh, about a month ago. They're in dire need of a good cup of STFU, really. There's hate for your rival, then there's such an irrational dislike that you'd willingly disregard your own failures compared to them and treat someone else's win over them as your own. I suppose that's part of every rivalry, but I've never understood it.

If you want to consider baseball part of the big sports in college (I personally dont), the PAC-10 had a participant in all three NC games. The finally were able to pull one out

That was a great series to watch, especially as a Tiger fan. The Tigers drafted Miller #6 overall, and then Nickerson in the 7th round. They both looked like they'll be great, but I have no idea how Nickerson dropped so far. The Tigers are realing stockpiling good, young arms.
