Try Wikipedia. Or bump the question in the thread where all the comic geeks were distraught about Spider Man revealing his identity.

I get the feeling I missed a parody thread somewhere, but at the risk of sounding stupid, try this link: hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Marvel_characters

thank you.

i had these marvel trading cards as a teen that listed specifically the abilities of each hero. spider man's card said he could lift a ton; hulk's said he could lift 100 tons (or something like that). i wish i had those cards still, i was talking to my friends about who would win in fight between spiderman and superman (obviously superman would win) and i listed spiderman only being able to lift a ton and they questioned that claim.

lol, one of my friends made fun of me cuz of my favorite super hero - Longshot. his power is luck and he only has 3 fingers and a thumb on each hand. this is the image that my friend send me with the following caption:

"Evil doers beware. Don't make me palm you to death".

I'd just like to add that the General Lee would totally blow away the Knight Rider Kitt 2000.

Marvel.com has information about every super hero/villain, as well as information about different events throughout the years.

There used to be a Marvel Super Heroes RPG that would have catalogued all this sort of information.

Dola... and Longshot kicked ass. My second-favorite X-Man of all time (after Colossus).

Oh, and it looks like HA can compare Spider-Man and Superman there, because it appears they have a database containing attributes for both DC and Marvel.

I've come VERY close to seeing if anyone played the "TMNT" RPG and if they'd be interested in a PBEM for it...

When Palladium was discontinueing TMNT, they put all of the books 1/2 off.. So I bought them all... then when my mom was going through the house I grew up in in the last few months because she's selling it, I ran across the books...

I played TMNT, still have a half dozen books. That was my introduction to all things roleplaying, it was a great game.

It's big brother, Heroes Unlimited, still stands as my favorite RPG.

The old Marvel game was what I got my hands on when my parents thought D&D was evil.

Yeah, I have the Heroes and Villians Unlimited books too... My start was via AD&D, but I just got really hooked on TMNT for some reason..

If someone wanted to do a Heroes and/or TMNT PBEM, I'd totally be up for it.. although I'm not sure when I could get up to pickup my books...

I spent a ton of time with the Marvel game, and a little bit with Villains and Vigilantes as well, back in the day.

You are giving Spidey short shrift-- He can lift ten tons. But Superman would still paste spidey before he could blink. Hell, he could incinerate spidey from orbit if he wanted.

I dunno... I think his spider-sense would allow him to dodge a blast from orbit. Up close might be a different story. But unless Spider-Man has some sort of kryptonite-reinforced webbing at his disposal, he doesn't have a prayer against Superman in direct combat.

There was one Spider Man comic where he defeated Firelord (think I'm remembering the name correctly), who was a herald of Galactus and basically as powerful as Silver Surfer. I think that was the last issue of Spider Man I ever read - I thought it was so ridiculous that Spider Man could defeat this opponent that I was done respecting the authors of that book.

Was that before or after Peter Parker turned out to be a clone?

I think it was before that. This was probably 15-18 years ago at this point.

But yes, I read that ridiculous moment in a thread on this site a little while back and I don't think I would have taken that news terribly well either. Once you are deeply invested in a series (Uncanny X-Men from about 170-270ish for me), I think you are willing to let the writers abuse you quite a bit - it usually takes repeated idiocy to drive a fan away. But for a comic that I picked up from time to time on a whim like Spider Man, I didn't need too much incentive to stop reading.

I had that comic. The one where Firelord is terrifying the pizza shop...

Firelord was dependant on his staff to channel his powers. Spidey figured that out and basically played keepaway for ten pages.

I don't think I ever ran across another instance where Firelord depended on his staff. It certainly is not listed in the character bio above. And Firelord did appear in the Silver Surfer comic, Thor, and Fantastic Four just to name a few others that I knew about ...
