Well, to be fair those teams had to deal with Mauer and Liriano, so perhaps it's not a good way to condemn the whole National League.

• Mauer went 4-for-5 against the Dodgers on Monday night. Only one other catcher in the last five seasons recorded consecutive starts with four or more hits: Victor Martinez (Aug. 25-26, 2005). Mauer is batting .469 (61-for-130) since May 19.

• Coincidentally, May 19 is also the date that Francisco Liriano made his first start of the season for the Twins. Liriano's victory Tuesday night raised his record to 8-1 since then (with a 1.76 ERA). Liriano leads the majors in wins during that time.

It is a bit sad that the National League teams couldn't beat up on Detroit and Chicago though.

118 to 70 is the AL's record against the NL. It's not runs scored by the Twins or anything.

It's a statisical anamoly. I think you can pretty much trace it back to the AL Central and Boston getting hot at the right time. Kansas City's been whacking their way through Pittsburgh, Houston and Cincinnati, but it has nothing to do with the DH -- it mostly has to do with those three teams playing like ass the last two weeks.

I was at one of the Royals/Pirates games last week. It wasn't the DH who walked eight guys. Angel Berroa drew a freakin' walk, for crying out loud.
