Should you get a Refund?

If you joined ESPN INSIDER just for the Peter Gammons articles, should you be refunded your money. Gammons looks like he'll be on the DL the rest of the season...

I would imagine you have a lot more issues to worry about than a refund

If you checked that option when you signed up for the subscription, definitely.

You checked that option, right?

If you get any refund, it's going to be a prorated one. They won't refund money for time already served, as it were.

That said, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I usually tend to be annoyed by PC answers like the one I am about to give you, but if you are that concerned about a $6.95 monthly charge and that insensitive to what happened to the guy who you said you joined to read than you have some big problems.

Where did it mention what payment plan he's using?

OK. Part 2. If you are a big enought dumbass that you paid more than $10/15 for a subscription to ESPN insider than I feel bad for you. A subscription to ESPN the magazine will get you free access to insider and I have seen ESPN mag yearly rates as low as $10. (I think they have even been free in a couple of threads on this board)

Uhh, seriously, why should ESPN.com continue to make money off the guy if they're not printing his stuff?

I think Tom E has a valid point. If you joined just to read Gammons, I think you have every right to request a refund. The rest of you can stick your sensitivity awareness advice where the sun doesn't shine - this isn't a slight against Gammons (if anything, it's a compliment), and it's not taking money out of his pocket or anything.

June 23rd, June 12th, thats the dates of his last 2 blogs. He hasnt written regular columns in a couple years. There is no regular output by Gammons. Requesting a refund on a person who contributes occasionally at best isnt going to go far.

To be completely honest, I've been a subscriber to the Mag since Issue #1, and I had no idea you could join Insider for free. It looks like it's free for the rest of your subscription, and then automatically renews at whatever subscription rate. I don't remember what my last renewal offer was, but I'm guessing that the automatic renewal rate isn't all that great. If you renew through another, cheaper offer, do you still get Insider?

I was an inaugural subscriber as well. I didnt know that you could get Insider for free until several months ago. I recieved an email that I could get Insider for free for the remainder of my ESPN the Mag subscription. I have about 20 months remaining but IIRC Insider renews itself at 39.95/year.

I didn't know that. I'm not a member of Insider, and I probably never will be. If that's the case, then the argument for a refund is indeed much weaker.

I did only a 30 day trial during March for fantasy baseball information, but I think you just give them some information off your mailing label from the magazine and you get insider free. Go to ESPN.com to confirm, but it looks pretty easy.

But he didn't join the Peter Gammons Insider, he joined the ESPN Insider. If he only uses Peter Gammons for reading, it's still apart of the ESPN Insider. They will just find another guy to take over (if he is any good, that's another set of shoes).

You both act like Gammons has been out for months and ESPN is sending out ad's with his picture on them telling you to join insider. For Christ's sake the guy's health collapsed yesterday. If ESPN sends me an e-mail in a month or two telling me to join insider for exclusive Peter Gammons content, then fuck them. In the meantime if you can't understand why this rant over no money is way out of line, then shame on you.
