FM save game question

Not seen this question addressed here, nor could I find it at the SI community.

Is it possible to change the folder to / from which saved games are stored / accessed from My Documents to another area of the computer? I tried creating a shortcut, but the game didn't recognize that, and I can't get it to use any other folders outside of my documents.

Reason I ask is that my company recently moved My Documents onto the server, and I'd just as soon not have them looking at this gigantic file and wondering what it is and having it back up every night... soon, they'll be asking questions... the kind of questions that will get me fired.

I tried re-directing My Documents to point to my C drive, but they've blocked my (and everyone's) ability to change where My Documents directs you... it's all pointing to the server.

Thanks for anyone's help in advance.

yup. Choose "Save Game As" And then you can change the directory it saves in

But I can't. When I choose save game as, it allows me to select "DataFiles" (which is the My Docs folder), but I can't go anywhere else. I can go deeper into that directory into sub-folders, but I can't drill back "up" beyond the My Docs folder to anywhere else.

Mostly I'm concerned with where it loads from anyway, because once it is saved I can move it wherever I want. But when I open the game, if it's not in that My Documents>Sports Interactive>FM 2006>games folder, then I can't access it.

Huh? I have WWSM06 (maybe you have FM06 and it's differently handled, but I doubt that).

From the main screen go "Load Game".

Up top there are three drop-down menus. The left-most one should allow you to browse to the "My Computer" screen (using a non-standard interface).

When I bring up Load Game, the left-most drop down allows me to go to "DataFiles"... and from there, I can only browse around my company's server, but it won't allow me to go to the C drive or My Computer or any of that. I'm thinking it's some kind of problem that has to do with my company moving the My Documents to their server.

Yea', maybe. When I click on that menu I can go to "Smithk7T40" which is the name of my computer. I think you're right that with the My Documents thing it thinks that your company's server is "your" PC.

I suspect Marc can help out with this, but it's probably some kind of .XML file adjustment.
