grr My *lucky* day
Why is it that on the days I'm feeling just awful that things decide to go wrong?
I went into work for awhile this morning. Felt like something decided to die in my ovaries (a known issue for me and my visitor) so left after an hour of mostly sitting in my office hunched in my chair, certainly getting no work done. Came home, took very good pain meds, perscribed for said issue. Got an email saying that there is a nonconformance that has been issued to my project that I need to disposition. Sadly, the only way for me to disposition it is to go into the office. Called the guy in charge, said I could come in but offered 2 other ways that this disposition could be done without me uncurling myself from the ball I'm in and going back to work. One would be to have my direct supervisor do the disposition. The other would be to have a Flight Assurance do the disposition (all this is done electronically) and add a comment that they've discussed this with me over the phone and I approve. I only live 5 miles from work and my first dose of drugs is wearing off that I probably could drive safely at this point, but why oh why couldn't this have been noticed yesterday (or tomorrow)? Seriously, it only seems that there are pressing issues that I need to address immediately when I'm out of the office. Does anyone else's office have this curse? /tk

I'm leaving next week to take a scout troop to summer camp. I fully expect work to go down the toilet while I'm gone.

I know that as soon as I go into the bathroom my phone rings, every single time.

My secretary is out today which leaves me two jobs to do. It's hard enough to take sales calls and be an answering service!!

Please never mention your visitor on this board. It makes the men uncomfortable.

Not to make fun...but am I the only guy who pretty much quit reading at that point? ETA: Now I see Samdari's response...so the answer would be no... Last edited by Suburban Rhythm : 07-07-2006 at 07:39 AM. |

Threadjack this baby back O(n)T...
I'm basically on-call 24x7 at my job, but I've got my customers in line to the point a call outside of business hours is rare. However, whenever I try and take a long lunch, take half of a day off to spend with my daughter, or just want to leave early to go home and take a nap, I ALWAYS get paged for some major issue. |

Pussy. Of course, my dad was an OBGYN and we discussed his work day at the dinner table, so maybe I'm the exception.

I had the day that I was supposed to go to the beach and was on PTO, the office was on the way to out, so I stopped in real quick to drop off a few things I had done at home the night before, and quickly got pulled into about 8 meetings and stuck there for the full working day. It was a great day off.

True to form, I haven't even been gone 24 hours and I've already received 3 calls.
