This is a post with two purposes. Just want to get a place that whoever plays can talk about their game/team/play. And also I'm looking to get some help on finding a new bat.

I play in a Major League Softball league in the city of Orange,CA (in Orange County). Basically it's a league that allows ASA Certified bats. I'm in my 4th season of play (1 full year). I'm a catcher at the moment, because I have a ruined arm, but I can play OF when there is a need. We are currently in a E level mens league (1 step above rec). But we bounce back and forth from E to D every couple seasons, as players leave and join the team.

Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on some of the current bats out there? I'm currently using a 2005 Freak, but it's not my bat (it's a team bat). But I've been thinking about getting my own bat soon. I tend to hit deep a lot (mostly groundrule doubles because of our field) but I'm also a good linedrive/grounder hitter when there is a need for just a hit.

I'd heavily recommend the Anderson bats. I'm using a rocket tech, have heard nothing but good reviews on the Rocket Tech Composite Killer (but haven't been able to get one up here unfortunately). I haven't tried the Techzilla series, but that's because I prefer the more endloaded feel of the Rocket Techs.

Primelord has a nice dynasty thread going about his (and WSUCougar's) softball team. He went through his teams bats in the 2nd post of the thread.

That's the one thing I miss about California. I used to play in two B and a C league or whatever it is in Santa Monica. I'd show up, play 3-4 games a night, and then play pickup on Saturdays, at a field in between SM and Marina Del Rey.

One of the guys I used to play with is Fred Willard (one of my comedic heroes). Incredible, incredible guy.

I played in a Redondo Beach league for one season when I was in California. That was pretty fun while it lasted.

I've been playing softball for my squadron team in the Air Force for about 8 years or so. At 34, I pitch mostly followed by 1B, and then outfield after that. Not so good at the skill positions on the infield.

I played on the same team for 20 years - we started in 1985 all fresh out of high school and played until last year when too many guys were hurt and/or moved away. 8 of the 10 guys were the same for all 20 years which is just unheard of in softball. we started out playing in a low league, but at our height were in all "A" leagues and "B" tournaments - some years in my mid 20's we would play almost 100 games a year. We even finished 6th once in the country in a national tournament of over 300+ teams. great times, great friends.

as to the question - I have used hundreds of bats over the years, but none has ever been as good as the DeMarini double wall. Of course they usually run around $300 - so that isn't always good.

Im in my first year of playing softball. Not all that good at it. I only play C. Our team is in the E league here. Its a lot of fun, and the last game we played I hit two ITP homeruns. Of course the other teams fielding sucks, and both of those hits would have been doubles otherwise...
