Money-making ideas

Every year for the last few I have been attending Dragoncon in Atlanta. It is the one thing every year that I look forward to. This year, because of job problems, I'm completely broke and can't think of any way of raising the funds to go. So, I look to you the brain-trust that is FOFC. I need about $500 to $800 dollars and need to make it with very little spare time to put into it. Suggestions?

It seems like you're trying to get something out of nothing. ALL of use would like to earn hundreds of dollars without investing any time (or selling things).

I do sympathize with your position, but it just seems like your grasping at air.

I WAS going to say this, but I wanted to look up the exact quote from Family Guy.

But now I'm not gonna.

I think the "very little spare time" part is what will prevent you from getting anywhere.

If you were willing to work your ass off for a few weeks you'd be fine. Wait tables at night or something and you'll have the money you need in just a couple weeks.

With that said I'm assuming your other responsiblities (i.e., kids) prevent that.

Need stuff to sell. The other two are not options.

Bingo. I've been working 16 hour days for the last three months. My new job will not require that, but I still need something require as little time as possible. Not saying zero time, but something close.

Caddy at a golf course on Saturdays and Sundays? You'd have to swallow up your pride, but I really don't see anything out there meeting your restrictions.

If there were an easy way to make that much money that quickly, so many people would do it that the laws of the economy would drag down the profits. You'd need to find something that you can do with a specific talent, or that you are willing to do that not a lot of other people would be willing to do. If you don't mind going to Hell, you could hang out at your local major intersection on Sunday afternoon with a bucket and say you are collecting for kids with cancer. Or you could whore yourself out to 16 fat chicks for fifty bucks. Or 4 really fat chicks for two hundred bucks. Fat chicks need love too. But they gotta pay.

I think there is a misunderstanding there which I'm sure is on my part. I'm not expecting to find something that requires zero time, but it can't be like 40 hours a week. I'm thinking 15-20 hours a week. I've actually gotten a couple of good suggestions via PM. I'm just wondering if there is something I'm not thinking of (plus, I knew there would be some funny responses).

As an update to both people that care, it ends up a room and ticket fell into my lap. Now, if I can only figure out to pull off my next big scheme: Finding pictures of Marc Duffy or Marc Vaughn with little boys and a camel doing inappropriate things so I can force them bring me on as a game-tester and move me to London.

I was actually going to suggest working Dragon*Con as a bouncer/usher/volunteer. I know a handful of people who have gone and gotten their way paid for that.

I did that when I was younger. That was going to be a last resort thing, because it would take a significant amount of the weekend away from me. I would have still needed a room which was the bigger problem.

Here's an easy 2k. My brother did this and it took him 100ish hours to complete. He finished with $1,700.
