Nursery Items....

Ok... So I can't believe I'm even discussing this...

I had this great idea for a nursery. I'm getting married in March and my fiancee and I are planning a family quickly thereafter. However, I had this great idea for a nursery, and I'm having trouble finding some of the stuff I'd need to make it work.

I'm going to do a mural on one wall of a stage (with curtains, etc) and build a small stage protruding from the wall. On which I'd line up stuffed animals of Kermit, Miss Piggy, etc... all your favorite muppets. Then on the adjoining wall I'd build a small parapet for Statler and Waldorf dolls to sit in....

So, anyone have any good links for Muppet Bedding? Muppet Show, Muppet Babies, Kermit the frog... anything other than Sesame Street.

I've done some internet searching but have come up empty... Thought someone might have some clues...

I've never seen muppet bedding for a nursery, but I've seen fabric at craft stores (JoAnn, Hobby Lobby, etc...), my suggestion would be to look for fabric and have something made...or DIY

No idea about the bedding, but get the nursery set up before the kids arrive.

Once you have your first kid, you'll have trouble finding enough time to brush your teeth, much less paint a mural and buy custom bedding

That's be awesome. Unfortunately, I've got no help other than what oliegirl already suggested - some of that may need to be built from scratch.

yes, because a room full of monster puppets won't freak out the little one at all.

Seriously, this sounds very cool, but don't be surprised if at age 2 or 3 your child all of a sudden wants to sleep in your room every night.

LOL - maybe you could get a Gonzo puppet with a giant horn that's programmed to go off at random intervals. That should contribute quite nicely to the mayhem.

Tip - save the Muppet Show for the 4-year old.

try ebay...we were able to find tons of stuff for our nursery (which is not monster themed) on Ebay that we couldnt find in stores...all of it new as well.

I think the idea is great...and yeah, some kids might be scared by the stuffed animals, but if it's something they have seen every day for as long as they can remember, I doubt there will be fear.

I'd also recommend ebay...especially for the stuffed animals/characters.

Hey everybody...

Thanks for the suggestions... I'll run by a fabric store sometime in the next couple weeks. Seems like everything I've seen so far has been Sesame Street or (gasp!) Fraggles. I loved the Muppets as a kid (Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas anyone?) and were never scared of any except the two huge rejects from "Where the Wild Things Are..."

Anyway, I agree with oliegirl that if it's something the munchkin grows up with there is a smaller chance of discomfort.

I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on what I find/do!
