Brain Puzzle

ALZHEIMERS' EYE TEST

Count every " F" in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

(SEE BELOW)

HOW MANY ?

WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke.
READ IT AGAIN !
Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind is further down.

The brain cannot process "OF".

Incredible or what? Go back and look again!!

Anyone who counts all 6 "F's" on the first go is a genius.

Three is normal, four is quite rare.

I pull this out for my students once a year usually. I get about 10-15% answer correctly.

Oh yeah and the reason actually has to do with the brain treating the F in 'of' differently because it is pronounced softer, like a V.

Goddamnit.. even when I'm aware of it I miss at least one of the "OF" F's.

Me too. I've seen this a few times, but I always miss one of the two "OF"'s in the second line.

dam, caught the last "of" and got 4 but even re-read it before checking out the answer and still missed the first two "of"s.

dola: which is actually funny because I caught the last of and thought "ha, most people probably miss that one" but still missed the other two after double checking it.

Heh, I got four, double-checked before moving on, got five, and then got pissed off when I realized that I missed another

I have never had a problem couting the F's in this test. I had a couple teachers throw this at us and the Navy used it on their testing program as well. I've always gotten it right.

Call me a freak.
