Thanks again, Larry, for all your hard work.

This is a lot better than I did in last year's main event, where all my picks wiped out before Day 2's dinner break. If I'm going to actually win this silly thing, I'm going to need lots of help from Layne, Kathy, and Humberto.

I have updated the list. It's getting pretty thin now.

Everything is updated with current chip counts at the end of day three.

Here are the winning scenarios....

Barkeep - Needs to stay ahead. Will be rooting against Annie Duke, Kathy Liebert, and Humberto Brenes. Basically, if none of the below scenarios happen, then Barkeep wins.

JoninMiddleGA - Needs Annie Duke to outscore the combination of Cunningham, Violette, Negreanu, and Forrest by 620.623 pts.

rockboy70 - Needs Kathy Liebert to outscore Allen Cunningham and Cyndy Violette by 1122.752 pts and also needs Ted Forrest to finish no more than 35.437 pts. behind Humberto Brenes.

Honolulu Blue - Needs Humberto Brenes to outscore Ted Forrest by 35.437 pts. and for Brenes and Kathy Liebert to score 1158.189 pts. more than the combination of Allen Cunningham and Cyndy Violette.

And the following people can only win if their ME winner picks come through....

Chubby - Daniel Negreanu
Desmond - Daniel Negreanu
hoopsguy - Allen Cunningham
Maple Leafs - Daniel Negreanu
Tyrith - Ted Forrest

Everyone else is officially eliminated.

We're down to three people left with a chance to win this...

Barkeep will win as long as Cunningham does better than, or stays close to Humberto Brenes. However, Cunningham cannot win.

Honolulu Blue needs Brenes to make it to the final table and finish ahead of Cunningham by almost $1.2 million.

hoopsguy needs Allen Cunningham to win, which doesn't seem so far fetched at this point. We could have a huge upset here. I don't think any of us thought an ME winner pick might come through.

Sorry, Barkeep -- Since Allen Cunningham was a thorn in my side the entire WSOP trying to chase you down, I think it would be incredibly ironic if Cunningham wins the whole darn thing and hoopsguy wins.

Don't forget at this time last year we were talking about whether Greg Raymer would repeat and what it would mean for Mike Matusow to be the WSOP Champion. I'm happy to see Allen do well, but I still think it's unlikely we'll see him or Humberto win this thing.

But stranger things have happened.

I'm rooting for Humberto, obviously, but his chip stack is relatively tiny.

The fat lady may not be singing yet, but she's definitely doing scales.

nh Barkeep.

I don't know what makes me want an overdog to win this, other than I'd like to see someone who has paid their dues win the title rather than an Internet monkey. I normally love underdog stories, but for some reason in this case I really hope a pro wins.

I'd love to see Brenes make the final table, but at this point I think he'll be lucky to make it through today. Cunningham took a hit too. At this point, Lisandro's looking like the best bet.

I think it's worth remembering that Raymer and Hachem have been pretty good champs and were hardly "overdogs" entering the final table even. While I admit there are a lot of players who I don't think I'd like to win, there could be a dozen people who I'd be happy to see win, I just don't know it yet.

I'm not necessarily looking for an "overdog" to win it, but I want to see some established player representation at the final table. If that means Rizen/Spirit Rock instead of Cunningham/Brenes, that is just fine with me. I just don't want nine pure Cinderella stories for that last show - I don't know if that is rational or not, but I've defintely found myself rooting for the established players to sustain their runs.

I suppose it's akin to watching The Masters and seeing Brett Quigley and Matt Gogel 10 shots clear of the field battling on Sunday. Sure, it would be a nice story if one of them wins and they might certainly one day prove to be worthy of winning The Masters, but if I'm going to plump myself down to watch on TV I want to see Tiger and Mickelson go at it. There's a certain interest in seeing both someone highly skilled compete and someone for whom you are familiar with the background and have some "connection" to.

I think this is a well stated reason for why the PPT and High Stakes Poker shows have been so well recieved despite the glut of poker already on TV.

Just out curiousity are the bracelet events that are going on not counting because I haven't been following them but I know that Hellmuth was playing in a bunch of them and I can't imagiane that he wouldn't at least have cashed.

And yes this means that I am concerend about Allen's success. However, I am proud to say that even if money were involved in this I still couldn't bring myself to root for that bastard Gold. I would much rather see someone classy like Cunningham win this thing than some complete jerk.

Hellmuth cashed for 5 points in one of them. I'll count whatever points are scored, but I doubt it will change the standings very much. Of course, if Cunningham wins, then it won't matter.

Phil took 3rd in Event #45, which should get him some more points. And, in doing so, secured the POTY award for the Series, according to a 2+2 thread talking about the event.

8 cashes
4 final tables
1 bracelet

Anyone interested in a year long fantasy league?

I thought it might be fun to run a pool that counts all tournaments throughout the year, culminating in next year's ME. I'd probably change it up so players weren't duplicated (by doing a draft, etc.). And I'd count any tourney that shows up in Cardplayer's database. The roster size would depend on how many players we have, so let me know if you're interested.

I'd be interested as well, time permitting (I get the feeling there isn't too much time investment for the fantasy players beyond the initial draft, which I could probably handle).

Maybe larry should start a seperate thread for those interested ( or I can do it, I just don't want to step on toes)

The borgata poker championship starts 9/ 15, maybe we could use that as the first event?
