Dancing With the Stars 3

Both the missus and I enjoyed this a lot last season, and it's six or seven weeks from starting back up; starting the thread because of some of the rumors/confirmed entrants this season:

Emmitt Smith (this year's Jerry Rice)
Sara Evans (country music singer)
Melissa Joan Hart (actress, Sabrina the Teenage Witch)
David Carradine (actor, Kill Bill (and lots others))
Maseila Lusha (actress, George Lopez show)
Mario Lopez (actor, Saved By The Bell)
Vivica A. Fox (actress, Independence Day (and others))
Jerry Springer (television personality, duh)
William Hung (American Idol contestant... apparently this year's Kenny Mayne)
Harry Hamlin (actor, L.A. Law)
Shanna Moakler (model, actress)
Joey Lawrence (actor, Blossom)

Granted, that's 12 names and there were only 10 last season, and few if any are actually "confirmed". Should be interesting again, though. Harry Hamlin is an interesting selection, as he's married to Lisa Rinna (who came in fourth last season).

From my end, no arguments with anyone other than William Hung.

Really, I might have said the same about Drew Lachey last year, and he ended up being one of the most entertaining and won the whole thing.

I will say that about William Hung, though.

I had no idea who Drew Lachey was so I couldn't have any feeling about him. Not a big Joey fan.

I like the women though.

I don't know 3 of the 5 women, and of the other two, I can't picture Fox and I haven't seen MJ hart in a few years.

Also, I just noticed that we've got 5 women and 7 men...boooooo! If I've got to watch this (and surely, I will), at least make it entertaining. Add Janelle from Big Brother or something.

There doesn't seem to be anything to complain about.

Well, it's not like the 5 women and 7 men won't have 5 male dance partners and 7 female dance partners...

Good point. For some reason, I was thinking that they paired them up, so I was picturing Emmitt Smith and Mario Lopez doing the rumba. Not good times.

Now what is Emmitt Smith's motivation here? Cash? Is he looking to be an entertainer/actor now?

Baffling.

Keeping him in the national consciousness long enough to allow him to cash in on a few minor commercials/endorsements.

He probably doesn't need the money, but I gotta figure it's hard going from millions to pension at his age. The guy's got nothing but time to kill...why not embarrass himself on national TV?

Again, say what you will about the entertainment value of the show, I still contend that this program more so than any other really tests the boundaries of the definition of the word "star."

I still think a more apt name would be "Dancing With Random Celebrities of Whom You May or May Not Have Heard"

have you ever seen celebrity fit club?

I'm ok with most of the choices.

I could do without Emmet Smith, I think he is to smug where as Jerry Rice was funny and entertaining.

I could do without William Hung but he will be gone the first week, I feel pretty bad for his partener.

I also wonder if they will bring back the same pro dancers or a different group.

At least Hung is going to try. Better than Master P last year. That was embarrassing, because 90% of the time he would just go out there and do his own stupid dance.

Here's the list:

Smith will be among the celebrities competing on the third season of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

Also heading to the dance floor: Tucker Carlson of MSNBC, talk-show host Jerry Springer, Vivica A. Fox, Harry Hamlin, Joe Lawrence, Mario Lopez, Sara Evans, Willa Ford, Monique Coleman, and former beauty queen Shanna Moakler.

More proof that celebs on reality TV = divorce:

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- Country singer Sara Evans alleges in divorce papers that her husband committed adultery, was verbally and emotionally abusive, drank excessively and frequently watched pornography in their home.

Evans, 35, filed for divorce Thursday from Craig Schelske and announced through a spokesman that she was quitting ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" "to give her family full attention at this difficult time."

The couple married in 1993 and have three children ages 7, 3 and 2.

Schelske, 43 and currently unemployed, ran for Congress as a Republican from Oregon's 5th District in 2002. He is a native of Salem, Oregon.

He could not be reached for comment because there was no answer at a phone number for him Oregon.

In the filing in state court in suburban Franklin, where the couple has a home, Evans alleges that Schelske watched pornography on the couples' computers and has at least 100 nude photographs of himself in a state of arousal.

She also alleges that several photographs show Schelske having sex with other women.

According to the court documents, the oldest of the couple's children confronted Schelske when he was watching pornographic material on the television in their home.

Evans further alleges that Schelske frequently threatened her and "told her that she is crazy," threatened to take the children to Oregon and "continually interferes with (Evans') possession of and parenting time" with their children.

Evans requests child custody, possession of Franklin home and child support.

Evans was among 11 celebrities who paired with professional dancers to compete on the third season of the popular ABC reality series.

"Ms. Evans hopes that her fans and TV viewers who've supported her in recent weeks and throughout her music career will respect and understand her need for privacy in the face of these recent events," Allen Brown, her representative at Sony BMG Music Entertainment, said in a statement Thursday.

The Missouri native was recently nominated for female vocalist of the year honors by the Country Music Association. She made her recording debut in 1997 and her 2000 album "Born to Fly" went double-platinum. Her hits include "Perfect," "Suds in the Bucket," and "Real Fine Place to Start."

I didn't find her to be all that attractive. And I'd never heard of her until this show. In fact, I kept forgetting who she was every episode.

She's the star and he's an unemployed politician, and she wants support?

I don't think her hubbie is going to be running for office anytime soon.

As a country music fan i've always liked her. But in fairness, I've pretty much only seen her on like magazine covers or cd covers. So she's all done up...

She's way done up on the show. It's just that she seems to not be aging well. Not a very pretty face, IMO.
