68 pitches.
Jesus. Schmidt had more *strikes* than Maddux threw pitches in 8 sterling innings tonight.
And the walk-off homer by Russell Martin...perfect capper. I'm still shaking. |

Man, I would have loved to have seen that game. That's my type of game- two contrasting aces including one who I'm not sure we'll ever see one like again (Maddux), and a great pitcher's duel with some drama at the end.

Giants have just gone in the toilet since Beneitz blew those 3 saves in a row before the trade deadline. Sabean should have been a seller and now we are stuck with the lifeless geezers.

Am I the only one who thinks that Benitez's downfall has to do with steroid testing?
This stretch has been pathetic for the Giants and unfortunately it looks like its going downhill from here with the turnover after this season. As for selling though, I think there's really not much value in the old guys and you might as well try to win this year while you still can (its the NL West for christsakes). At least Sabean didn't buy more than Stanton and picking up Hillebrand. |

In a perfect world, the Pads would have grabbed Maddux and the Giants would have bought a bullpen.

No, no. I think Maddux landing with the Dodgers and the Giants not doing anything was perfect all by itself. ![]() |

Fuck off and die. Why, oh why did the Dodgers have to sign Maddux? I loved the guy until a few weeks ago.

As Bug pointed out, we traded for him. Didn't sign him. And I think the answer to that question is obvious, don't you? Quote:
Well, when he's not striking out three times on Jason Schmidt pitches in the dirt, yes, yes he is. |
