Is there anyway to rearrange your guys on the dropship prior to starting a mission?

I was never able to figure out a way to do that.
But then again, I'm not very bright. |

There was an editor that allowed you to do that (and a lot of other things too), but in the vanilla game, no. I tried to use an editor once, but it didn't work for me so I gave up and never bothered going back and trying again.
Here is a link to a site that has a newer editor than the one I remember seeing: hxxp://www.stonepool.com/xcom Not sure how well it works. |

There is a (fan-made, I believe?) patch that allows you to play the game in Windows. I'm pretty sure I found the game on underdogs after I lost the disks a long time ago. I still play it every 6 months or so.

There was a official "Gold Edition" awhile back which had been modified to work with XP, it could very well be available for purchase still.

Hey Blade6119! Yeah, it's been a while. Got busy with this and that and stuff. Didn't we both die in Sachmo's Normandy dynasty? You died first, of course, but thanks to Coffee Warlord's forgetting to load his rifle, I bought the farm. We'll have to find a new dysnasty story to duel in. I'm ready. Bring it on. Regarding playing X-Com, I used that Collector's edition that was available for purchase a few years ago. I got it to work under XP, but you have to modify a graphic's card setting (I forget offhand which one it was, but I can check if anyone has trouble with it). However, the game was too fast on my P4. At the end of the dynasty we had going here, I was running the game on a P3 laptop fairly well though. There were a few other options out there at the time for slowing down computers to get X-Com to run, but I didn't mess with them that much. I'm interested to see whether Microsoft Virtual PC will help with running X-Com on my P4 desktop. Edit: Wow! That Collector's edition is a bit pricey now. |

Supposedly the above link has a free utility that allows running old DOS programs, including Master of Magic, under XP (I found it on a MoM board). Since X-Com was by the same company and made about the same time, perhaps it will work for X-Com too. I have not had a chance to try it yet, so buyer beware.
