it's the same thing gamespy does with FOFC.. you go to the home page or click on a story, and it redirects you to an ad and click here to go to the story..

The problem with ESPN compared to FOFC, if you noscript it (which blocks the ads), you also block most of ESPN's features like scoreboards and the like.
