I loved Meg Ryan when she was younger. Check her out in 'DOA'. She was young and half-naked at times. It worked then. Maybe not so much now though.

Meg Ryan at her peak was the epitome of the girl nextdoor. She was the kind of girl that guys would have a crush on, but I don't think she was ever hot. You don't have to have supermodel looks to be hot, but girl nextdoor doesn't do it. There has to be some smoke from somewhere.

Interesting choice of wording, because one of the things about Meg Ryan that I've never liked is that many of her movie roles involved a lot of cigarette smoking scenes. Personally, I don't care for hot women smoking to begin with, but with her it seemed particularly negative. Just my opinion.

We might have a difference in definition there. To me, a "girl next door type" is someone who is very common...someone that everybody lives next to. Nothing terribly memorable or special, but just a nice average girl.

Well, I tend to take things other than personal appearance into account when determining hotness, which elevates certain "girl next door types" in my book, but I see these types as generally being more attractive then they appear.

But there's no denying that their hotness is, in part, based on the "type" of person they are (or appear to be). I generally have a hard time separating the person from the physical aspect. For example, if Paris Hilton was legitimately beautiful but still the person she is, I'd still vote Not Hot. As it is, though, I don't have that problem...

It finally dawned on me the secret to why many vote Hot. It seems like if any chick from the 80s or 90s ever got naked on film, simulated wacking off or acted like they're having hot sex, then she gets a Hot vote. It doesn't matter what they look like (then or now), all some remember is one scene or movie. No wonder Coug and I usually vote Not, we don't remember nerd fantasies too well.
