I might crap my pants

I am popping the fear question tomarrow night. I have so much anxiety at the moment. Heart burn, the squirts. Oh I cant wait until tomorrow is over with. I did get her dads blessing a few hours ago. That scared the crap out of me before I asked him. I am not sure I have been this scared or nervous about anything before.

.... and here come the squirts again

If you're that worried that she might say yes, maybe the whole thing is a bad idea.

Dude, whether you've got her dad's blessing or not, a threesome just isn't happening. I speak from experience, no amount of smoking hot visual evidence of the potential third party is going to sway her.

(In all seriousness, congrats. And pack some Immodium or something haha.)

Well what do you know, she said yes. I am now getting married May 19th 2007. Good thing I just bought the 360, because my toy buying days are done, at least without permission.

Wow, you have the date set already? I proposed and it took over 7 months to set a date.

Yeah, we want to start a family. So we picked the date right away. Next we will decide when our honeymoon is going to be, and we will start trying for little ones as early as then.

I think love, honesty and separate checking accounts are the keys to a great relationship. Have one joint account for housing, food, utilities, vacations and whatnot, but otherwise separate accounts are essential. No chance of one of us getting in a bad mood and starting a fight with the other because I bought a new game or she bought some collectible glass blown thingy.

And congrats by the way!

Really? I find that odd. My sister-in-law and her husband have separate checking accounts and the general consensus among my wife's family is that there's something suspicious about the husband insisting on having separate finances. I can't say I have ever considered it, either.

Picked the date right away and it's still 9 months away?? I just never understood long engagements, let alone expensive weddings (not assuming you'll have one).

My wife and I were engaged for 7 months, but it takes lots of planning for a wedding, even if you are noting doing an expensive one. We both had lots of family and friends that had to be invited and we wanted a real wedding, not a Vegas shotgun wedding. Fortunately both our parents helped with some of the expenses.

I agree completely, my wife and I have a joint checking with each of us having our own checking and savings account. At one point in time, we had everything in joint accounts and it led to nothing but arguments. I can't imagine asking permission to buy anything, let alone a game. She got her shoe thing and I have my games, everyones happy as long as the house is paid, kids got food and we have money to enjoy family activities. In fact, what each other buys with there personal account doesn't even come into question anymore.

This amazes me. My wife and I rarely fight over purchases - she gets what she wants, I get what I want, and we both know when something would be cost prohibitive and either don't bother, or at least we discuss it and dismiss it.

Do you have separate incomes? Maybe that would make a little more sense to me. With us, I'm the sole provider, so doing something like this would require me to essentially give her an allowance, which is beyond strange, IMO.

Sorry about that. My fiancee and I are actually shooting for the same date--so these things are prominent in my mind at the moment. I thought I'd be a little selfish and share some of my pain...

Be lucky you are not getting married in or around NYC, where those prices would be multiplied by 4 to 5 times that.

Yeah, good luck with your plans.

We started scouting out venue locations this past weekend. It looks like we are going to have to be flexible on our date--it turns out that we are competing with 2 college graduations in the area on the weekend we targeted (meaning limited hotel availability, venues less willing to close up shop for a wedding, etc).

Oh well, nobody said it was going to be easy.
