team A gets Julius Jones

team B gets TO

this is a yardage/td league. is this even, or is one team getting the better end of this than the other. obviously TO is ranked higher than Jones, but he's got a lot of baggage and Parcells looks like he won't take no shit. Jones is a top 15 RB, but won't carry your team.

what about:

team A gets Julius Jones

team B gets Anquan Boldin

i already know the answers to these questions, i just want to guage popular sentiment.

I'm not sold on Jones much. It feels like Parcells will use Barber quite a bit and has never been a Julius Jones guy. That being said he has a shot at 1,000 and 9 or something like that.

I guess it depends on the league structure and overall scarcity of receivers. I would have to believe it's harder to find runnings backs than Boldin like receivers. I believe his production declines this year and FItz goes up.

TO is the ulimate gamble. One I was reluctant to take this year.

My answer is Jones(passing on the TO upside) I guess without the context of the other components to the rosters.

they can't trade boldin and have jones and to can they? that doesn't make much sense to me.

to for jones I would do if I were this team. san fran might manage 5 rushing tds as a whole team this season.

Team B has Hines Ward, Boldin and TO as their receivers. Bell and Gore as their starting RBs.

i'm starting to think the team w/ Jones should just chill and stand pat. Team A's WRs are Rod Smith and Javon Walker.

ok, i'll stop the beating around the bush. i'm team A. i'm in an auction league:

i have Larry Johnson and Julius Jones as my starting RBs. on my bench i have Ahman Green/Samkon Gado. Kevin Jones (goooooo Mike Martz!). Cedric Benson.

i'm thin on WR, but in an auction league you gotta pick you strengths/weaknesses. i use the logic (the conventional logic, that is) that any one WR can light it up in any given game and/or season, and that outside of the perennial top 3 elite WRs (and there's always 3 elite WRs in any one year) the dropoff in production from #5-15 is minimal, if that much, whereas the dropoff from the #5-#15 RB is substantial (hence, RBs being weighted more in value than WRs).

No idea who your other receivers are but Smith AND Walker is very weak.

If I had your team I would strongly consider rolling the dice on TO. You figure GB back/Jones/Benson...one of them can equal the production you get from Jones.

Swinging for the fences with TO could be a real difference maker. If you miss you are no worse off really.

hence my wanting to aquire TO. the other team, the one with the shitty RBs, doesn't want to do it. i might just try to aquire TJ Housh (who is a bench player on someone'se team) in a deal involving Julius Jones.

Tangental... are there any free, Yahoo-style auction leagues? I've never played an auction league and am interested in giving it a shot.

i don't know - we use CBS Sportsline for our fantasy leagues (football and baseball). probably no need to use Sportsline for baseball as we do a normal draft. CBS is very good, although i don't know what they do differently that we need to pay for it.
