I thought the quality was much better. Joey Lawerence is much more ripped then I would have ever thought. The judges were alot more harsher then in the past.

I have this recorded I'll make sure to watch it. How was Jerry Springer? He's the main reason I'm watching the show.

Odd mixture - the best performers, I think, were men (Joey Lawrence, Emmitt, Mario Lopez), but so were the worst (Tucker Carlson, Jerry Springer, Harry Hamlin). A lot of potential in the women, but none of them were blow-me-away quite yet. The girl from High School Musical could be running circles around the rest by the end of the season, though.

Springer gave it a real good effort, fun to watch, but he's not as good as some of the older guys from other seasons... my wife was worried he was going to keel over by the end of it, he looked very winded and not well.

Top 2 performances of the night and I think will make the finals is:

1) Mario (Save by the Bell) & Karina
2) Emmitt (Dallas Coyboys) & Cheryl

I went to college with Joey and he lived down the hall from me in an apartment complex, and he wasn't nearly that ripped 10 years ago. He was downright scrawny. Wife was watching the show, and I was shocked to see how much more muscular he looks.

This has been a great show this season .

According to tonight descriptions. Seem like officials will explain how the rest of the contest will work.

I wonder if they are tire of the the fans voting counting as 50% of the voting total. Maybe they are tire of seeing Springer advancing each week. He been the worse dancer but gets thru each week.

They did change it this season - by percents.

Previous seasons were by place - i.e. if the judges had Drew #1, Stacey #2 and Jerry #3; and the fans voted Drew #1, Jerry #2, and Stacey #3 the order would be Dew (1+1=2), Jerry (3+2 = 5, fans win the tie), Stacey (2+3).

This year, it's percentages. Judges votes are broken up by percentage of total points - if it's:

Jerry 18
Monique 23
Joey 24
Emmitt 25
Mario 28

Total points: 118

Jerry gets 15.25% of the vote, so 15.25 points. If he then gets 22% of the call-in votes, his score is 37.25.

This pretty well gets rid of the Master P factor, I think - judges scores of 8 v. 6 in the 20s didn't mean anything last season other than last place. This week, it means seriously lower scores.

The rule starting season #3

"the couple with the lowest combined score from the judges and the viewers will be eliminated from the competition. The scoring is divided evenly between the judges and the viewers at home, ensuring unpredictable outcomes at the end of every show. When the final two couples remain, the ultimate dance-off will determine who wins the trophy."

But I think there going to change this for the rest of this season starting tonight.

No... it's still evenly judges/viewers, but at the start of the season it moved from places to percentages. No changes in scoring tonight aside from counting two weeks towards next week (to account for Sara leaving).

Sadly, the only one of the chicks I had heard of before the show was the chick from High School Musical (check my separate thread about that!). Oh, and I guess Vivica Fox, although I'm not sure where I've seen her. But I definitely had heard of her. And what a typical Hollywood bitch she acted like on the show; it was nauseating.

Vivica Fox I think may have been in Kill Bill.

I know the name, but I've never seen Kill Bill. Looking at her imdb profile, it must be Independence Day that I know her from.

Because Sara quit the show because of her divorce situation.

So they combining this week scores of the judges and fans to next week scores.

They didn't want to short the series 1 week because of Sara Evans quitting.

Actually, they really can't. This is one of the most popular shows on television right now, it's something that people actually watch.

You don't gotta like it (I'm not wild about it myself), you don't gotta watch it, but damned if I get any eye-rolling about it either.

Agreed. This show is huge and a cash cow. You'll be seeing (maybe not watching though) multiple seasons of this show for years to come.

We should try to come up with a list of future participants, given the people they've had on here lately.

For instance, who's the next token old guy? Or, do they mix it up and go for old lady?

Not enough young good-looking guys, but some pretty good suggestions. Moon Pie and Markie are solid choices.

Old ladies probably don't get a slot because they'd have to sacrifice some of the hotness factor they would get from the younger women.

Although a possible exception to that might be if they got some former sex symbol who still looked something like her younger self. Somebody like Victoria Principal or Lynda Carter.

I also wouldn't be surprised by an eventual former child star. And I figure after Rice & Smith, a retired NBA guy will be sooner rather than later (Dr. J maybe?)

Given the formula, I would think a male country act comes sooner rather than later. They'd kill to get a McGraw/Chesney type or that Australian guy but would be more likely to have to settle for somebody like Trace Adkins. Another couple of possibilities might be Travis Tritt or as a wildcard, what about Clint Black? I could see Black & his wife (Lisa Hartman) even being in the competition at the same time.

I'm just glad neither Harry Hamlin nor his collagen-injected wife are eligible anymore. Talk about freakin' screen whores!
