Bachelor Parties

Aside from strippers (my friend is overly religious and doesn't want strippers), what other things can you guys think of to do at a bachelor party?

Dog Track/Horse Track is fun. Bars - Lots of bars.

Since he doesn't want strippers, I recommend hiring 'escorts.'

Check out Harpoon's brewery. They have a bachelor party "tour" where you stand around and drink as much as possible for two hours. It's a good warm up for the night. I'm not 100% sure unlimited beer is offered to the public (an employee friend set us up), but I'm pretty sure they do some kind of bachelor party thing.

There's also a paintball place around Boston somewhere, if that's your thing.

you guys should just do a nice manly dinner at a steakhouse and just go to a bar.

my friend just had a bachelor party sans strippers/fun girls. just wanted to do a drink-a-thon in one bar. whoopie. he was adamant about there being no surprises. meanwhile his fiance went to South Beach for her bacheloretter party. as much as i tried to tell him his idea was bad and he'd regret it years from now he didn't want to listen. so we did it his way and now his party is known as the worst bachelor party we've all went to. you can lead a horse to water...

Well, since you aren't going to do the stripper thing, perhaps you could have a pig roast, or something cool like that.

It really doesn't matter what the groom wants. Bachelor parties are for the his friends as far as I'm concerned. Get strippers. Tell him to close his eyes if he wants. Plus, he's probably just saying it so he looks good to the bride. If you get them anyway, then he can just say, "it's their fault, I told them I didn't want them."

Trust me, once he's had a few drinks, he'll be very happy with the decision. Plus, it will make him feel better because he had nothing to do with it. Even so, if he doesn't like it -- too bad.

Wow, this is would make you basically the worst friend/best man ever as far as I'm concerned.

The bachelor party IS for him, that's the whole point.

After the guy hugs you and says thanks man because I must have been smokin' something when I told you no strippers, you will be the BEST friend/best man ever. Plus, if he doesn't, who cares. I mean as I said he can close his eyes or leave the room for 30 minutes. And no, the bachelor party is for everyone that attends. If the groom is a wet noodle, I would never enforce his wet noodlishness on others.

Is that kinda like throwing a birthday party for someone with food/gifts that you know the birthday boy/girl hates?

No, not at all. It's throwing a party for someone with food/gifts he likes, but is afraid to say so.

If you're wrong, what's the harm. Again, you can still do everything the guy wants to do during the evening. If he truly is not into the strippers (highly doubtful), then he can sit back and simply enjoy his friends having a good time for an hour out of the evening.

you're wrong. the bachelor party is for however the groom wants to be sent off. if you're on deathrow and you request a grilled cheese sandwich as your last meal you're not gonna get filet mignon cuz someone thinks your request is lame. you're gonna get grilled cheese. same w/ a bachelor party. if that's how he wants to go out then that's his prob and it'll be for him to regret years later. you can't force fun on people, they gotta want it. especially when the party is in their honor. just gotta grin and bear it. personally i'd make the groom decide what he wants to do since he's not requesting a normal bachelor party.

I think the one distinction (for this guy's case, the way it was presented) is the whole religious factor. If the groom isn't bullshitting when it comes to that, I say pass on the strippers.

But I'd say that most times the groom says he doesn't want strippers, its cause his future wife is giving him shit for it.

Yeah, sure. These are the types of bachelor parties where you turn around after an hour and everyone has slipped out the back door or "accidentally" got separated from the group. As a friend, it is your job, no, it is your duty to make sure your buddy's bachelor party is not lame. That trumps everything. End of story.

I'm glad you're not planning my bachelor party.

I would be super pissed if I asked for no strippers and I got forced to them anyways. You don't just "leave the room for 30 minutes" from your own bachelor party.. .this would ruin it and you'd be screwed...

If it is because of the fiance that you are saying no strippers, then it is VERY easy to give the "wink wink, nudge nudge" or tell the best man, "ok, just don't tell her" or whatever..

Your stance seriously to me is about the rudest and most disrespectful thing for a friend to do/say.

I guess we won't be friends. I like to party with mine.

I find punching a friend in the face, stealing his money or running of credits in online poker, sleeping with his fiance, calling his girlfriend a slut, overstaying in his apartment, borrowing his car and not re-filling it with gas, refusing to drive him to the airport, refusing to dance with the ugly girl as wingman, etc. to be much ruder and disrespectful. But apparently you think it's having strippers at his bachelor party.

i know for my bachelor party all i requested was that i not be the center of attention. it didn't turn out that way and i wasn't able to 100% enjoy my party to the fullest extent cuz i don't like surprises and i was put in a situation where i was the center of attention. i don't know about you, but being forced to strip down to my underwear (thank God i didn't listen to my best man who told me not to wear underwear) while covorting with 2 naked women in the center of a room with all my friends sitting semi-circle around me just isn't my idea of fun. i mean, naked girls are naked girls so i had a nice time, but it crossed over the boundary of what i found fun. i wasn't able to get hard cuz i was like "this isn't cool, this ain't my idea of fun". still, among my friends my party is listed as being tied for the best bachelor party (which is saying a lot cuz the other top bachelor party was in vegas). beetlejuice from Howard Stern was at my party.

oh, my point was i didn't get mad at my best man for not completely following my directions, i know my friends were footing the bill for this thing so they were entitled to have fun, too. and you don't have to twist my arm to have fun w/ naked girls.

i understand where you're coming from, but some people aren't so "go with the flow", some people would actually get *really* pissed if you disobeyed their wishes. some people, like me, also realize that if someone is paying in excess of $350 for my party they deserve some level of return on their investment as well. not everyone is like me, however. you know your friend best, though, so only you could make that call.

There's a big difference between "don't want to be a center of the party, but I like naked women" and "I don't want naked women"...

Sorry that some of you are not mature enough to understand that there are people that truely do not want strippers.

Edit: FWIW, I'm not one of the people that do not want strippers.

My brother was the best man for a mutual friend, and we did Dave & Busters and everyone had a really good time.

I just think that if you're throwing a party FOR someone, the least you should do is respect the wishes of the person you're celebrating, regardless of his reason. If the man doesn't want strippers, then you shouldn't have strippers.

To each his own, though. I know that if I ask my best man to not bring strippers and he does anyway, I'm not gonna be a happy camper, because that shows my best man doesn't give a crap about what I say.

I'm 27 and have never been to a strip joint (or seen a strip elsewhere). Does that answer your question?

Likely I will go to one for my bachelor party in a year or so, just because it's kind of "what you do" and it woudl be part of a fun night besides that.

But no, it's not my cup of tea.

I find the whole strip club scene amusing, so it's fun on a schadenfreude level.

I've never found it erotic, though. It's just kind of like "Ho-hum, random boobs and hoonanny. Dark stage and psychadelic lighting to hide just how unattractive most these girls are."

dola,

I should add, I amuse myself at strip clubs by watching the patrons act like idiots over the girls and by rating the girls' dance skills/routines.

If there is an indoor Go-kart place around, that worked for my friend's. They had 4 HP engines,so it wasn't kiddie stuff atleast.
