My Dad, who used to work at MIT in the 60s and 70s, likes to tell the story of how Chomsky & his cohorts would incite students to riot during the Vietnam war at rallies, and then when the students went off to get the shit beaten out of them by the police, would retire to the Faculty Lounge for drinks.

Perhaps Fox News Channel's Britt Hume should brush up on his Spanish.
As Reuters correctly reports, Chavez referred to his regret at not meeting the recently deceased John Kenneth Galbraith: Quote:

What makes it worse is that he's still teaching and he's still having an influence on college students with his nonsensical crap. It's a disgrace.

So is Chavez. Retroactively if need be.

And no matter what you say about him, Chomsky was and is a great linguist. A giant in that field, and I believe most of his teaching was on that subject. His politics may have been the subject of guest lectures, but I don't believe he taught any political science or theory classes.

There was a great song by the obscure country-rock band The Horsies called "Noam Chomsky." http://www.nypress.com/16/13/music/dustbin.cfm
Weird shit, but intriguing.
