ping TV Poker watchers

Sorry for the late notice, but I believe the 10:00pm ET WSOP event on ESPN tonight is the $1K buy-in NLHE tournament that your fellow FOF BALLERZ played in this summer.

Event link: http://www.cardplayer.com/tournaments/results/3206

If you followed my account of the event, keep an eye out for this guy:

http://www.cardplayer.com/players/re...l_Halford/3505

...he sat on my lright for several hours, and made an unreal double suckout to propel him deep into the money. Decent enough guy, deeeeeep southern accent. *shurg*

I'll keep my eyes open for other players I recognize.

I thought for a second that you were going to say that was you.

Glad to be mistaken.

I'm pretty sure this event was actually on either last week or 2 weeks ago, because last night at 10 PM was the first Omaha event they showed. And in the tourney you listed, Carlos Mortensen was the first bust out, and he was the first bust out in the tourney that was on previously.

Am I the only person on Earth that thinks poker on TV is utterly unwatchable? Actually I probably am.

My mistake, it wasn't on last night as they had initially advertised. Either they have decided not to show it, or they have moved it to later in the aiuring schedule.

I fell for that too when I saw Mortensen bust out first at a final table a week or two ago -- but it appears that he has three top-ten finishes this year --9th, 9th, and 10th. I don't know if the final table for the 1K event (where he finished 10th) will see him at the final table and teh first one to go, or the guy who busted on the bubble before the final table of nine players. Regardless -- I had to do a double take as well.

I used to watch it quite a bit when the World Poker Tour started up, but I can't get into it at all now. To me, it's like watching Australian football. I understand what's going on, but I don't know who anybody is, so I don't have anybody to cheer for. I think televised poker is all about the personalities, and with all these new Internet poker superstars and young guys who all look alike, I don't even try to follow it anymore.

At least in Australian football, the sport itself is entertaining. Watching other people play poker is boring unless you know anything about the players.

I think that's why I find the WSOP on ESPN fairly boring, but Poker Superstars on FSN and the Professional Poker Tour on Travel Channel very entertaining (though the PPT announcers are very bad).

PPT announcers are just terrible. Otherwise I think I might enjoy it the best of the televised tournaments.

High Stakes Poker is about the only thing that's good. It's on GSN, so almost no one sees it.
