juniper has a us airways card that is currently giving 1.5 for every dollar.

I guess it really depends on what you are looking for?

Which website is that FBPro?

Rewards systems are a nice thing if you use your card a lot. Past year i started to think about the good amount of money i expent monthy by credit card, as i pay with it all my business costs (over $12k in online advertising, hosting, etc).

As i was told that banks get around a 1% or 2% from the shops where you use your credit card and i was not geting any kind of advantage for using it, I asked my bank about it. They didn't offer me any kind of reward so i walked to another Spanish bank that has a nice rewards system, you get points for every $x expent with the card. They also gave me better conditions for all my other transactions.

I moved my funds to that bank and after some months i have exchanged my earned points for a 17" TFT TV and some minor presents, and even not being a huge pay back, at least i got some profit from the bank as they got it from my CC use.

Banks are used to earn money from everything and we need to get used to get some back too, as they are earning money with ours.

As I posted in a recent thread about credit cards, we have an AE Delta Miles card that we use for everyday purchases and it has worked fabulously. We've never paid a cent of interest and have probably gotten 12-15 free flights out of it (and have about 125K in miles right now).

I'd say that that "that" that that poster used above was superfluous.

If I can get past this stupid floating popup that's making me click "close", I'll answer:

If you have kids, it is hands-down the Disney Rewards Card from Chase. Nothing like using it for all your day-to-day expenses for a year and rolling in to Disney with $500 to spend on stuffed animals for your daughter...

A while ago I was asking a similiar question, and did some number crunching myself, here is the post that really sums up my findings in terms of overall value of the various popular types of cards:

The biggest thing I noticed about your comparison is the maximum cash back award. Is that normal for most cash back cards, a $300 maximum? So basically, you're limited to charging $30K in eligible expenses (1% being $300, of course).

I believe the standard airline miles cards have a limit, but it's quite high. For my AE Delta Miles card, it's $60K for the standard card, $100K for Gold, and unlimited for Platinum (which is what I have). So that's a big deal right there, if you use your card the way I do to make all monthly purchases and pay it off every month. Between that and charging business expenses, I rack up a ton more miles in a year than I could make cash on a cash back card. Right now, for instance, with 125K miles, if I get the right flights (delta has certain seats available at 25K miles and others at 50K miles), I could have up to 5 free tickets, which based on the valuation you indicated, would be worth $2K.

But you're analysis is right, that if you're just going to treat it as a typical credit card and only charge up a certain, small amount a year, the differences are less obvious.

Yeah, it really comes down to how much you're realistically going to be funneling through the card. If it's a very high number, there are better deals outside of the cash cards. It's a matter of deciding which is going to be best for you. I think from a strict value standpoint the GM card was by far the best one I looked at, but for me personally it was just not at all the right fit.

If ever a sentence wanted some commas, though, that was it.

I like the Amex rewards program for the breadth of options it gives. You can pretty much buy anything with your rewards points. It's great if you use it a ton, less so if you won't be spending that much money. Bascially getting 1 cent on the dollar. Depends on whether you want miles or points really.
