Thumbs up Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Wow!

I've been playing this game for the past couple days, and I'm thoroughly impressed with "X-Men Legends 3".

The CGI scenes are well done (playing on the 360), and I'm glad Deadpool is a selectable character from the get go.

Pick this one up if you favor the Marvel camp (the character selection is excellent), or are just looking for a solid co-op style adventure for you and/or your friends to play.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this game, and it's enough to tide me over for awhile since I had a blast playing XML 1 and XML 2. I haven't done co-op yet (planning on tonight, with another buddy) but I've been messing around with team configurations, and I noticed that you'll get a team "bonus" if you've got certain people in your 4 man group (such as Captain America, Spider Man, Luke Cage, Spider Woman resulting in a team "New Avengers" bonus!).

I've been playing it as well. As a big fan of XML 1 & 2, I really like this game a lot.

My favorite foursome so far is Wolverine, Deadpool, Captain America and Thor.

I haven't had much chance to earn enough (or advance far enough) in the game to unlock Spidey's new Iron Armor outfit, but I had a lot of fun doing his web-slinging from room to room.

Deadpool, though, is undoubtedly one of my most favorites! I think I'm using Deadpool, Iron Man, Spider Woman, and Moon Knight in my team for the moment.

I broke down and bought this yesterday. Spent all evening with the wife so I didn't get to play it, and not sure how much play this will get with the release of FOF 2007. But I am still looking forward to playing it. Might play quite a bit this evening depending upon how late the FOF 2007 release is today/this weekend

Judging by your comments on the team bonuses, I'm guessing you didn't play XML2 that much.

Or maybe he got wrapped up with his favorite team (that didn't give bonuses.) I did that in XML2 and didn't even realize there were team bonuses until after I finished the game and read game guides to see what I missed.

Just finishing reading the instruction manual, and one thing I don't like is that it seems the game really pushes you to stick to one team of 4. According to the manual, a team loses 50 reputation points each time it swaps out a character.

Although, I guess I should fire up the game now and actually see it in action before making any judgments.

Just made it to my first S.H.I.E.L.D access point. Having a really hard time deciding which characters to make part of my team. So many interesting choices.

It's been awhile since I last touched XML2, especially since I've ton of save games that I wish I could transfer over (once I get one of those transfer kits). Unfortunately, I didn't expect XML1 and 2 to not be listed on the 360's backwards compatible list, just like Indigo Prophecy.

Certainly possible, but I recall there being numerous team combos. Shurg.

Would like to know how the co-op is. My wife and I played XML1 coop on the Xbox and had a blast. We're looking for a good 360 coop game.

I've been playing co-op with my buddies, and it's been a blast so far. There's some occasions where we had some serious lag kick in (mostly moving from a room to another), but I'm attributing it to my horrible wireless router!

It's been pretty interesting. I played until the 3rd level/mission, and created a co-op match online with my loaded save, and it worked fine for my other 2 buddies who were just able to join in.

Interestingly enough, they retain a copy of that saved game (if I understand this correctly) on their local 360s.

I'm sure you've gotten to where this comes into play by now.

You can eventually have a team of 10 to choose from. Also, you don't just have to play with the guys on your team. I don't think you earn any reputation points if you play with someone outside of your team.

Actually FOF has limited my play significantly. I've gotten to the Stark Base, but haven't done any further missions yet. I'm enjoying this game when I play it, and I'm sure I'll be playing more this weekend.

Co-op is very fun. My son and I play in Arcade mode and he always accuses me of being greedy. It's more fun with two characters than four, IMHO. I got stuck at a few points so I picked up the strategy guide. If anyone needs any help, holla!

In order to unlock his Spider Armor outfit, you'll need to complete his comic book mission. This is his fourth outfit (2nd being symbiote and 3rd being Scarlet Spider). For all fourth outfits, you'll have to complete the respective heroes' comic book missions. The different costumes give different bonuses.

I beat MUA this morning. All in all, I enjoyed the game. It is a shorter game than XML2, IMO. Playing on the Normal difficulty, I didn't have all 4 of my guys die at once. Wolverine and Deadpool were pretty much invincible for me.

I am going to play through on Hard mode and use some different characters and see how challenging it is for me.

How about the 3rd outfits? I've unlocked the secondary outfits for some of the characters (during the whole co-op online thing), but wasn't sure about the third outfits yet. Been playing too much (went from 7ish to a little past midnight non-stop) and I think I'll be taking a break for awhile!

The 2nd and 3rd costumes get unlocked as you play with each character.

Outift 2 is unlocked after defeating 30 enemies. (You must be actively controlling the character for the enemy to count towards the kill total.)

Outfit 3 is unlocked after defeating 175 enemies. (You must be actively controlling the character for the enemy to count towards the kill total.)

My favorite is Captain America because controlling his shield is pretty cool. I haven't unlocked Ghost Rider yet but he's one I want to be as well.

I've been playing with Deadpool primarily -- though I wish the 360 had Captain Marvel playable. IIRC, I think he's purportedly a PSP exclusive?

Good info. I was wondering why I was only unlocking Spiderman's outfits.

Is there a way to transfer items between characters on the PS3 version without risking them vanishing after you drop them?
