Which first timers get in?

Paul Tagliabue
Terrell Davis
Randall Cunningham
Bruce Matthews
Randall McDaniel
Mark Stepnoski
Steve Wisniewski
Eric Allen
LeRoy Butler
Carnell Lake
Ricky Watters

I would say Tags and Matthews probably will/should get in.

I don't think any of them are locks. Matthews should get iin on the first crack, but I'm not sure of anyone else deserving.

Taglibue.

I'd like to see Cunningham get in, but didn't Warren Moon already go in last year?

I think Tagliabue and Matthews get in this year. I'm not sure of the list of guys already on the ballot, but Michael Irvin has to get in eventually.

You don't think Tags deserves to get in first time? Personally I think this is the lock to end all locks... he handed the NFL over as clearly the number 1 pro sports league in the country.

Matthews is also a lock IMO, and I think Stepnoski may surprise a few people.

Interested to see who will get in via the veterans committee.

I think Tags is the only lock among this group.

Tags and Bruce Matthews were the only two that would get my vote. I love Cunningham more than basically anyone, but no way is he a hall of famer.

Bob Kuechenberg
Art Monk
Derrick Thomas
Thurman Thomas
Gary Zimmerman
Richard Dent
Roger Wehrli
George Young

Thurman Thomas at his peak was really a monster. Get your hands on a a copy of Super Bowl XXV and watch a man carry a team on his back.

I agree Thurman Thomas should've in by now.

Irvin, Monk, and Dent also deserve looks I'd say.

I don't know how Harry Carson got in before any of those guys. I think if Davis played 3 - 5 more years he would have been a lock. But since he retired early he's never going to make it.

It is amazing to me that the Hall of Fame only has 21 head coaches.

I disagree. I think that there is a chance he will get in like Sayers.

Ditto. I'd like to see Randall get in, but I don't think he does on the first ballot. Matthews is probable, but I don't think he is a lock.

Tagliabue, Thurman Thomas, Michael Irvin, and Bruce Matthews.

I'd like to see Ricky Watters get in, but if Thurman Thomas isn't in before him there's something wrong here.

I don't think TD will get in. Things will hurt his chances IMO are playing with Elway, and playing with that dominant OL. The continued success of just plugging in any scrub at RB after Davis left will make it look like it was more the OL than him.

Crackhead words. It's been beaten to death. But Monk is not a HOFer. His numbers do not compare well eith his contemporaries. His Reception record was basically the result of being the first good player to play his entire career after the rule changes on how DBs could play defense.

Carson was something like a seven or eight time All-Pro IIRC.

You might have an argument about Dent, who was a truly dominant player. Irvin, IMO, is a HOFer. But I don't see a pressing need to put him in before some other deserving candidates.

Thurman Thomas should have been in on his first chance. Thomas's showing this year will give us all a preview of what Tiki Barber's campaigns will be like in 5 years-- assuming Tiki doesn't win the Bowl in February.
