Dad passes away

My dad, who was 80 years old passed away late last night at a local hospital. He hadn't been in great health so, this doesn't come as much of a surprise. That being said it is still difficult as many here who have lost a close family membe know. It is interesting to start to look back on my father's life and see his footprint on others. For example, he was a retired WW II navy guy and being former Air Force I have a lot of respect and pride for those type of guys and what that generation accomplished. Anyways, death sucks.

I am sorry Galaril, my father too just passed away last Tuesday, and we burried him yesterday morning. Tough times. My Dad was also in failing health for some time, and I can honestly say it's a blessing. They are both in a better place now. I know that sounds like a cliche, but it's the truth.

One thing that is neat is that my Dad passed away on the same day as Red Auberbach. My dad was a huge fan of Red's Celtics teams back in the 50'-60's.
So, I had joked to my brother today to try to cheer the mood some "that my dad was now smoking stogies with Red",it maked us both smile

Sorry to hear about your Dad... So do you think that while smoking a couple of the finest cigars they ever sampled one looked at the other and said Isn't that the guy who beat Ali?

Glad to see that he was a man that can bring you joy if only through memories. God Bless...
