PC Backup Software

Here's the scenario:

I back up my computer data (not programs, OS, or anything else that's a waste of backup space) once every week or so to a DVD-RW (I've got two I swap back-and-forth). Unfortunately, my data has grown to 4 GB (much of it photos), and the DVD-RW is about to run out of room. Also, my wife's machine almost never gets backed up.

So, what I'm looking for is backup software that will let me:

- auto-backup specified data on a schedule
- compress the data
- allow me to back up to a folder on the network (basically I want to back my wife's machine up to my hard drive, and my machine to her hard drive)

Recommendations? Freeware is always cool, but I'll pay for something that is GOOD.

I'm not looking for tons of bells and whistles; I've been using the included backup program in XP for the DVD-RW stuff just fine.

Cobian Backup should do everything you are looking for. Freeware and has never let me down. http://www.cobian.se/
