He does all of those exceptionally well but his DMX is spot-fucking-on, I would imagine of all the guys he's imitating DMX's voice would be the toughest to nail.

Excellent clip.

Wow! What makes that awesome is that he is copying their rap style as well. I haven't seen anything like that.

exactly. it'd be one thing if he just sounded like them, which is impressive in it's own right, but mimmicking their style just took it to the next level. and he didn't miss a beat. his pimphand is strong.

That was pretty incredible. I actually thought the DMX one was the weakest. His voice didn't seem deep enough to me. The other ones were spot-on though.

I have never heard JayZ or DMX, but he sounded a lot like Snoop (although I haven't heard him in a long time). As far as the other two, the JayZ guy must be the most generic rapper in history, because it just sounded like a random dude trying to rap, and the DMX guy sounds like this rapper my brother used to make me listen to - Mystikal.

Damn, I hate modern rap.

What does it say about rap when one guy can rap as good, if not better than 4 of it's biggest artist?

I never said I was a rap expert. In fact, the point of my post was that I don't know modern rap at all.

Thanks for being an immature jackass, and taking a shot at me. I'm sorry that you don't have the emotional or intellectual capacity to deal with people that have differing opinions from you.

Nothing.

Unless you think the existence of Rich Little proves that there are no great actors.

Schmidty is cranky today. Your post was kind of funny, though, because many people consider Jay Z to be the best or one of the very best rappers of all time and you thought his style was totally generic. It was just funny that way.

Ah, that's cool.

I love lots and lots of different musical genres, but modern rap isn't one of the them. I'm more of a Tribe Called Quest (circa 1991), De La Soul, Arrested Development kind of guy.

I really haven't given rap much of a chance since the mid to late '90s, so I must admit that I'm pretty close-minded in that way.

Excellent clip.

Agreed, DMX has always had a really bizzare cadence, like he's stressing the wrong part of the words or something, and this dude absolute nails him as well as the other two. Great clip.

Is there really a comparison between imitating an actor and imitating a singer? One takes alot more than a voice into consideration for example.

He has the cadence down. The only problem is that is doesn't have as much gravel to his voice as DMX, but it can still pass for him if you are strictly listening to him. It's like DMX with a slight cold.

You realize that he was just imitating their voice, not their songs right? He was making the stuff up as he was going, but doing it was the voice of those rappers...

Jay-Z is the greatest rap imitator of all time.

I'll look for the song but its mixed with his songs and songs that came out prior to his and they're blatant rip offs.

Well, Schmidty isn't the only one around here that knows nothing about rap. It ain't unheard of. That said, I will come across stuff on the radio that I think sounds pretty cool...just have no clue what it is.

That new commercial with Jay-Z though...I hope his other stuff is better than that, because I can't say I care for that one too much (and it bugs me that I can't remember what song he samples).

DMX's first CD is pretty great, never listened to too much after that though. Pretty spot on for the imitations.

DeToxRoxDVHStyle Jay-z is one of the best to ever have touched the mic. That clip is not even 5% of all the rhymes he has in his career and it is common in rap to pay homage to others by using some parts of others rhymes. He was very good friends with the Notorious B.I.G. before he died and as that is the person he does this most often to, is a way to pay respects and keep his name relevant.
