Drafted rookies retiring after 1 year?

Anyone else getting drafted rookies who are signed to multi-year contracts retiring after 1 year on the team?

This has happened to me a few times. Is there a workaround?

V6.0b, Single player-games, max salaries for the players & after 1 season they retire and drop off of the roster.

In all likelihood, your guys are too old. If you import a rookie file from the 70's or 80's into a 2006 career, you're only going to get one year out of them.
