Thumbs up Survivor: Amazon

Great first episode, even though the men botched the first challenge cuz of the two dimwits. It's nice to have a team to root for right off of the bat. The Men must prevail!

I think Daniel should have been booted. He's the reason Ryan is gone anyways.

I didn't see the episode yet. ( I tape it and watch it later)

But that guy Ryan used to work at the place that I work at now. Several of the people I work with know him. Rumor has it he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Yeah.. It seems like Dave could have lobbied and gotten Daniel off instead, but he just kept quiet and said he was voting for Ryan -- an odd decision in my book..

This vote was interesting.. in my book Ryan was gone no matter what, however Roger making it past the first vote makes me think he could go a long way.. he built his little group already and could go a long way on that, rather than Ryan who was just fumbling around and if roger got voted off he wouldn't have had a strong coalition..

I like the guys team, the girls are already showing how much they depend on us men back at the camps ... They may have won one, but I can't see the girls continueing to win in physical challenges..

There usually are not a lot of purely physical challenges, though, and I suspect there will be even less this time around. A lot of the challenges that are physical have added elements like they are blindfolded and have to be coached. I think the men are in a lose-lose situation, as if they win it is expected, but when they lose they look like buffoons.

Once again, I am hooked.

Remember, there's not schedule of what challenges will happen when. The producers can very easily rig it so that the side that's behind in numbers gets an advantage. The producers want both sides to lost people at an equal rate, so they'll choose challenges that will help that along. This will be even more true if the men get a lead, because CBS doesn't want to see the women get stomped. It's bad TV.

Mark my words, if the men go out and win the next three challenges, the next one after that will be a lactating competition.

And not all that funny either. They need a pep talk from you know who.

I remember watching the second season fo Survivor. One camp kept winning the "prizes" challenges so they were well fed and very comfortable....but they ended up losing. So just because the guy shave it easier at camp doesn't mean they'll do better in challenges...

Learning to walk across a wooden beam would be helpful, though.

I must be one of the few who is (so far) rooting for the women's tribe. The men seem alright, but it was a beautiful thing seeing Jeff (Anal) Probst putting them in their place time and time again.

If they relaxed on the cockiness, they would be easier to root for.

Still, one of the better, if not the best, opening episodes in the series yet. Normally I find the opening episode pretty dry, but this time it was very well done.

It was rather amusing watching the wome'ns tribe trying to get their camp together. As we see in the previews they still won;t have a shelter next week as the men rest uder cover while the women are out in the pouring rain.

I think that not having a good shelter and having so many troubles at camp will hurt a team more than losing the reward challenges. Reward challeges help a little but without proper shelter they will be so physically and emotionally drained that it will be over for them soon. They may not even have enough left to win that lactatiing challenge. Unless the get 'help' off camera to get a shelter together. Like if about the third show into the season they suddenly have a sturdy and waterproof shelter that seemed to show up overnight.

There are a couple nice looking women this time around. That will give me something to root for.

Now for the questions.
Which one is the gay one? My money is on that lady, can't remember what her name was, but she was the bossiest of the bunch.

Where's the black guy? Did I miss something or no black guy this time around.

Would anyone else think that it's rigged if the deaf lady wins? She seems like she might be nice enough but I can't see how she can make it through something like this without a little help somewhere. Just the team communication alone will be trouble, like the conversations at night that we already saw she can't get into because she can't read everyone's lips at that point. Of course there is one advantage if she sees people talking a ways off she can tell if they're plotting by reading their lips.

Do these people watch previous shows? Ryan and Daniel just standing around while the team works. Especially in the first couple days, not a way to make an impression early on. Always the easiest way to get voted out early. As for Ryan's words for Roger during voting "Don't hunt what you can't kill.", He didn't.

Who's the next to go? I bet the housewife, she was a wreck after one day. No way can she make it much longer out there. As much as I hate to think it, Heidi and Shawna will go early. The other women won't want them around when the tribes merge.

What is the next surprise that they have in store? Maybe an early merger, especially if the women can't get a shelter made.

As a long time survivor viewer I enjoyed the episode. I think it is a novel idea and the guys made themselves look like total morons, but when you think about it, thats what we guys do best.

I think the deaf girl concept is interesting, she is definetly at a disadvantage and if she goes early I think it could create a controvery, on the other hand it could work to her advantage because the other girls might feel guilty voting her out.

I wondered the same thing with the deaf girl. It could be an advantage, but it could just as well be a disadvantage.

Will it be a set up if th edeaf girl wins? Maybe. If there is a challenge where she seriously screws up because of communications, and she still doesn't get kicked, it's a set up. But we all know that alliances mean a lot more than how you perform in challenges. If she makes the right friends, she could get it done.

Look at the winner of season two. She lost an immunity challenge for her team and never won an individual immunity challenge. But she won because she made the right alliance.
