Advice, por favor?

I haven't played the game in a while so I'm a bit rusty. Just looking for a bit o advice. I did a fictional preference draft, setting QBs and RBs high. Ironically, I ended up with the worst possible QBs and mediocre RBs. I am 0-5 (lost all my preseason games too!). As you can see from the stats here, my running attack is decent when they get the chance, but my passing is downright shameful. My scout is good and he tells me:

QB is 16/53 (but is 0/0 in short passes?? and 92 in scramble) and a rookie
RB is 51/51 (have a good backup too)
FB is 63/63
TE is 70/70
WRs are 24/51 and 28/52 (with some meh backups)
OTs are 28/49 and 19/52 (better pass blocking)
DEs are 88/88 and 35/47
DTs are 35/47 and 56/56 (with another solid one behind)
LBs are 63/63, 66/79 and 53/53 (with another good one behind)
CSs are 58/88 and 62/62
S are 68/84 and 71/71

Injuries have been ok, but we have turned the ball over at will. My question is, should I use my probably high pick on a new QB, given how important QBs are, or should I wait this dud out. He's a rookie, but thanks to the preference draft, he'll be FA and I don't think I can deal him right now.

After I wrote this, I actually won a game and my QB threw for 193 yds (career high). We then blew a 16 point lead to Detroit the next game with my star QB going 19/33 for 152. Yuck!

Myself, I like to build up a good offensive line and running game before upgrading at QB. My reasoning for this is that it is easier to find and get good running talent than it is to get good QB talent. The dropoff from the top 5 or so QBs is pretty severe, with the rest of them being bunched pretty much together.

So I guess what I'm getting at is only draft the QB if he is a rare talent. Otherwise go for the OL and running game, which can make the game easier for an average QB.

Is it possible you moved the sliders in the wrong direction?

You can sign him next year, since he'll be an RFA, and trade him then. If you get any takers.

It was a foul season. He finished the year with a QB rating of 52 or so (8 TD and 18 INT) including a 5 INT game and 3 INT game to end the season. I was hoping for a sign and trade, but since my team actually won 5 games, I get the 8th pick or so, meaning a stud QB won't be there. My hope is to trade him for a decent pick and move up with it.

I say get a QB via FA if you can. If you can get a solid vet, the defense is strong enough that you can grind out a decent record just managing the offense. Get a decent vet QB and maybe use the draft pick on a stud WR, you're really hurting there.

Resigned the crappy dude in the hopes that he can hit his goal of 50s, but since he was so crappy, he pretty much took nothing. I interviewed a bunch of QBs, and at pick 7, there is nothing earth shattering. Looks like QB is crazy-tough.

Let us know how he looks as he goes into his 2nd season. If he ends up 53/53, you can build a team around him.

Had the draft, I'll have to check tomorrow. There were 2 good QBs, but nothing special. They went 1 and 3. I picked a nice OT at 7, and spent my first 3 picks on the OL.

That's a good plan too. You're definitely hurting at OT.
