How are you playing 2k7?

Just curious as since I started with Buffalo and the pbp is more involved (I can't quite get it to where I can comfortably follow a game yet) - I set my depth charts and sim the game.

Are any of you watching your games? ..and if so, are you doing it real time or watching via Solevision?

I think once I get a competing team in place, I might watch more games.

I use single-player for more fast simming-ish. I sim the week, look at the box scores, look at injuries, look at some stats, sign players if I need to, have the scouts do game plans/depth charts.

My multiplayer careers are where I focus in on the game-by-game aspects, whereas I play single-player to create history and look at long-term things.

How am I playing FOF2K7? Very poorly like usual.

But seriously. I use solevision and watch every play. I like to stay involved with who does what. It's easier to make notes as I watch the games and then take a quick look at the box score.

Now that I'm building up my team, I tend to watch them more.

I have a multi-player team and a single player career going.

In single player I am enjoying calling plays. Keeps me from wanting to fire my coach for not running enough.

I like watching all the games too. Nice feature where it gives you an idea of what all the teams like to do.

The only thing I scratch my head on is when calling the plays and I call a time out it has to be after the play is run and the clock is bleeding away. Seems I should be able to call the timeout at end of play to save clock if that is clear. Old FOF was that way if I remember correctly.

I am more interested in developing players and trying to draft solid players to fill in for my high priced vets. I spend atleast 45 mins just scouting the draft. During the season I set the gameplan with a few tweaks after an odd looking lost(i.e. 30-3). During the playoffs I call plays.

I'm watching every one of my team's games via Solevision. I like the score board "old way" but I love watching league leaders for the day and other perks of Solevision.

I'm just starting my first "proper" dynasty in 2k7 and for the first time in FOF I'm gameplanning for each game. Usually I would just make an offensive and defensive gameplan and use it over the whole season, but it looks as though the AI does a good job of adjusting it's gameplan so I feel like I'm actually getting challenged.

Something I just found which I think is great, I am going to run a B&R defense so I traded for a couple of DB's good in B&R and when I go to pass coverage situations and click recommend my coach is picking nearly all B&R coverage. He is actually picking more B&R coverage than I was intending to go with. Gameplanning is so much better in this version, I really feel in control and feel my little adjustments actually mean something as well.

(Having noticed that the Coach pics a fitting gameplan depending on the specific talent available, it's nice to think that players who don't want to gameplan can actually sign certain types of players and the coach will pick the correct style of play to suit the team).

I'm probably going to watch some of the divisional and important matches, which will also be a first.

This is my first go-round with FOF, so I'm taking my Skins and calling the plays. It's really enjoyable to have to keep grinding on offense until you can break a few plays.

I never watch games. I don't look at the box scores as much since they changed to html either. =[

Jeff, you know that there is an option to open them up still in your FOF2k7 window, right?

In my underwear.

But I watch every game of mine and jump in to call plays occasionally (going for it on 1st down, etc.) When it comes to the playoffs, after I'm elminated is when I go to Solevision.

I watch games in superspeed in the Simulate Games menu unless there's something else to watch for that week; in that case, I'll watch Solevision.

Are you finding that the AI is likely to punt a lot on 1st down unless you jump in to call the play?

I use that--the option from the color screen, right?

The problem is that the colors make it hard for me to read. I tried printing to generic/text only, but the alignment gets messed up in places.

I should just stop complaining as it doesn't do any good, I guess. I wish the 2004 text only box scores were still in the game, as I found them infinitely easier to read.

If color is an issue for you, there is still a solution. Download this pdf maker here:PDF Creator. Once you have it installed, I would suggest setting it as your default printer unless you use your printer often.

So whenever you want to view your boxscores or game logs, you can see them in their black and white glory by clicking the print button and saving it your desktop (or wherever you want to save them).

Oh my bad Jeff. I actually love the new box scores. I hated at first that they opened up in a web browser, as my computer is pretty slow, but once I got them to open up in 2k7, I thought that the color-coordination was wonderful.

I really love Solevision when the playoffs roll around. Even though we're not in them, it's fun to switch back and forth between games as they play out right in front of you. Just like sitting at home and switiching channels.

It's probably an obvious answer, but I cant find this option. How do I stop getting these windows in a browser and in the game instead?

I usually just scan the season since the GM aspects are what I like best, but I am finding myself watching playoff and some random games more. I really haven't used Solevision at all.

I used to be a fast simmer, but now I let the AI handle the game planning and I do the rest.

Roster management can look like a mountain, especially the beginning of the season when that roster can become engorged at 60 or so players, but eventually it becomes second nature.

I used to always let the AI handle the rosters, but with this version, I'm determined to do it myself and it has really helped me get to know my players in a way I never did before.

It's really tough cutting that 5th round draft pick you've kept on the team for 3 years. Every roster eval you see a bit of progress in him but you're just waiting for him to get the opportunity to play and really develop. The only problem is your starters at that position have stayed relatively healthy and they are vets that are helping you win. Then, one day you have 1 too many injuries and need room to sign another position. Cutting these sorts of players is really tough and I never got to see this part of the game before when I let the AI handle the rosters.

I frequently check all my former draft picks to see where they are and how they're doing.

I heavily scour the box scores of my exhibition games and more casually read the in-season box scores (usually worrying more about my developing players and the QB and RBs). I usually have my mind made up before the season which players are my starters, but I have made switches mid season based on stats and occasionally rest even slightly injured vets for a game so that a youngin' can play.

I frequently am at odds with the "recommend" button on my QB and RB depth charts (not so much on the other positions), and I monkey with the playing times a lot.

Usually takes me about 2 hours to get through a season, less if injuries don't overwhelm the team.

I usually play GM/Coach. I like to make roster moves (sign free agents, make trades, etc.) but also like to call the plays during games as well.

As the Bears, I am playing solely as a GM and watch each of my team's games in the real-time window. I set the speed meter about 70%, which gives me time to read while speeding things along.

I handle all the roster moves and drafting myself, but let the AI handle all the coaching tendencies and strategies. Each week, I go in and check the recommended items for offensive and defensive playcalling.

It's been pretty fun, despite being a passive observer during games. In the 2008 season I won the championship as a wildcard team.
