Every Monday, this column will provide some insight into an aspect of the game. This will include game planning tips, roster building tips, further explanation of ratings, and other things that will hopefully help both novice and experienced Front Office Football 2007 GM’s. For the inaugural column, I’d like to briefly comment on Albionmoonlight’s 4-3 Bump and Run Cover 2 Defense.

First of all, this post is noteworthy because the competitive nature of the many MP Leagues has limited game planning sharing in the past. Hopefully, this post will be the start of a trend of sharing knowledge. Secondly, this post is notable for the validity of the strategy. I personally tried this defense and it worked very well as long as I stuck to a key tenant of acquiring the right personnel to fit the scheme. Of course, this is important for any game plan. Without the right players that have the attributes to pull off a scheme, any game plan can fail as there are no unstoppable super tactics in Front Office Football 2007.

As Albionmoonlight points out, the quality of the defensive line is critical. A great defensive line can really shine in many schemes, but quality is very important in this scheme because they will be the source of almost all of the pressure on the quarterback. I also believe that safeties are critical; they must have a high zone coverage rating to really get the most out of this defense. Again, I'd like to offer kudos to Albionmoonlight for sharing this knowledge. This is a thread that any FOF player should check out:
