Question OT - Cone comeback

David Cone decided to give it one more try. Out of baseball last year, the 40-year-old pitcher will attempt a comeback with the New York Mets, signing a minor league contract Thursday.

What are your thoughts, guys ? Can he make it ?

don't see why he cannot make it, he was still better than 50% of the pitchers in baseball when he retired, i would like to see him do some relief myself.

I think cone can be an effective fifth starter, the only problem is he probably only has about 6 innings a game in him so he could put a burden on the bullpen, but as fifth starters go you can't argue he would be one of the better one's in the league.

I am with you. I still have my old and tattered Met's are pond scum shirt from the '86/'87 seasons. The only teams I hate more than the mets are the Jayhawks and the Cowboys.

Add Nebraska and the Detroit Redwings to that list and I would have to say you and I think alike.

Cone will have an alright year, and thats only if he stays healthy. Prediction: He'll be on the DL by the end of may.

I'll always have a soft spot for Cone. He was a big piece of the Blue Jays' first World Series, acquired in a surprising deadline deal.

The Jays gave up can't-miss blue chip prospect Ryan Thompson, and some young utility infielder named Jeff Kent. Just goes to show...
