TEW 2007 Demo was out on 22nd! Full release on 29th!
I have been away for a few days and missed it, but after a search i couldn't find it announced here, what is going on with you guys? where is jbmagic announcing new things?
![]() The full game will be released tomorrow 29th. TEW 2005 was a great game, but too much clicking required. It seems for what i have read that it's way better now. I'm downloading it now, not tested it yet. I'm not really into real wrestling but i always found TEW as an interesting game about running an entertainment business like Hollywood Mogul. I'll be way more interested once the 80's mod is released as it's when i saw wrestling here in Spain, but i'll give the demo a shoot now and will probably end buying it. Here is the announcement at GDS: http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum...ad.php?t=19396 Reactions thread at GDS: http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum...ad.php?t=19398

bump
The game has been released... I think I will give it a try after buying the initial version and then skipping 2005. It looks like in terms of features alot has been added. |

I tried the demo ... it's still too much of a clickfest.

Agreed. The new features are nice (and unlike other text sims, I have full confidence that these features actually improve the game rather than make it more buggy), but the clicking is maddening. Still no hotlinking of worker names, still about 4 or 5 pages to look at for a single worker's stats. I'll probably pick it up after a patch and the DOTT mod though. |

" It is the most frustrating game for not being able to see the information you want for your squad/roster on one screen

Just an FYI for anyone in England, or just about anywhere else outside of the US on purchasing the game, from what they're reporting on their forums over there - it may be best to wait on purchasing the game - especially if you get an error when buying (error 23/24).
People were being told they had the incorrect addresses listed, or their cards were being declined while they were still being charged for each attempt. Some people are saying they were charged as many as 22 times for the game by elicense. Doesn't look like anyone inside the US has had this problem, as it seems to be an issue with the province/state. I'll try the demo. I had some fun with the last version, but I did have some complaints about it. It's been awhile so I've forgetton what they were...

I was amped about giving this a try (and I'll probably still download the demo eventually), but I'm sorry to read that it's still a clickfest. Even so, I'd be happy if I could just have the game generate an HTML spreadsheet list of my workers and their attributes. If I had that list printed out in front of me at all times, it would make things so much easier.
I'm disappointed with what I'm reading here so far, but I'll eventually get around to the demo.

Yeah, that would probably beat the heck out of keying everything into Excel, which is what I've been doing. Or at least it'd make the data entry process easier.

Regardless of how the demo turns out or even how the full game turns out, I'll always remember TEW 2007 for something from their message board:
references to characters Heely McHeel & Facey McFace. Love it.

Jon, one of these days, when DoTT has been translated to TEW2007, you and I are gonna fire up a multiplayer game. You can have Georgia Championship Wrestling, and I'll take Mid-Atlantic... sound fair?

And then we fight over all the good talent? ![]() I'm hoping that DoTT is every bit as good in the new version as it was in the last one. I still haven't fired up the demo, only managed to get it d'loaded & installed so far, but I'm hoping that any changes will only enhance the experience 'cause DoTT was about as good a user mod as I've seen for any game. One thing that always bugged me with the way contracts were structured in the last version (and I'm hoping might have changed to create some workaround for it) is something that would come into play with an MP game featuring GCW & M-A. Let's say we've got a working agreement, so there's a wrestler we both use, Flair for example. In order for us both to use him, we couldn't put him under a written contract to either/both feds ... which means he gets snatched by an unaffiliated promotion and we both lose him. I'd love to see some arrangement that let's us put him under some sort of joint written contract, allowing us both to use him but preventing other feds from poaching him. (I saw this happen quite a bit in a modern day scenario with guys that worked for both TNA & ROH)

I think they have something like that in, where they call it a talent loan. One of the promotions owns the talent but they allow the talent to be loaned to another company that their on good terms with.

I think the best way around the clicking to to build a house rule around it. I only take a thorough view of my roster and worker stats once a month or so (and the game tracks stat changes month to month). Otherwise, I'm restricted to booking shows and making roster moves based on "feel", and observations of performance. In the new version, I'm hoping this speeds things up even more, because booking DOES seem a little quicker (if only because you can select your advance bookings as a "unit" when you book your show, rather than selecting every individual worker for a match).

The only thing that bugs me is that it still requires a few clicks to see your players profiles, ratings etc and it's a clickfest for me until I start to know my workers and who to book etc. Apart from that the game looks great.

Early impressions - having never played 2005 and giving up on the initial version - I'm really liking 2007. It feels more streamlined, emails come with the option to open that person's profile directly, and also the promotion that is making an offer to that person...
The internet section allows you to click on the photos of the people in the news and go directly to their profiles, tag teams are able to be selected together in the booking section, Angles are a bit messy but not so bad with the filter feature. The feedback during the shows seems 10x better than TEW1. Have quite a bit of worker history availiable, although I'm using converted 2005 data ( I can't get into the fictional stuff), it's nice having the workers match history, title history, popularity changes over the last year and his skill changes over the last year. Will have to put in some serious time and see how long my interest last, but so far I'm liking it. |

OK - tried this thing again: I truly can't get past the amount of clicking
Unless I'm missing something, they've actually made it more difficult to access information than in TEW2005 - can you not get a statisticians view on the creative screen?

I messed around with this for a little bit yesterday, and find myself strangely fascinated despite the difficulty of finding information.
It seems a bit daunting to program each individual segment of a show -- could really use a recommend button that you could tweak. Going to play around with it some more, right now I'm 50/50 as to whether the tedium of excessive clicking will overcome the interesting premise.

Well, supposedly ("don't hold me to it" the modder says) the D.O.T.T. mod might be released sometime later this week. Apparently he's holding off on release while he tries to get at least 75% of the workers pictures into a new format.
Sigh. I figure I'll eventually break down & try this (even though I'm almost certain the clickfest aspect will kill it for me again) but I gotta tell ya, it seems like it would be wise for the developer to give the major modders enough info to start ahead of release, as the mods seem to be one of the biggest selling points the game has if not the biggest selling point. Absent D.O.T.T. I would have pretty much zero interest in the game at this point.

I'm trying to think of something that would even be close, at least as a sort of "universe mod" (as opposed to, say, a utility). I could probably come up with some for tabletop games, but off the top of my head nothing is hitting me for computer sports sims.

I guess my opinion differs, as the clicking on this game doesn't bother me so much, and I feel it's been very improved.
This is my first TEW game, but I've probably been one of the longest EW players, playing since EW5000 back when TNM7 ruled the world. I'm excited to play DOTT, but my license is on another computer 4 hours away that I was unable to unlicense before coming to college. Lame. But yeah, I love this game. |

Cool thing on the TEW forums yesterday, figured it earned a bump for this thread.
Long story short, it looks like a new patch included a couple of things that have a big impact on the popular D.O.T.T. mod -- a block on PPV deals prior to 1985 & a block on having multiple TV shows prior to 1983. Works great for realism ... but wreaked havoc on at least one poster's dynasty if he updated with the new patch. After some general gnashing of teeth, developer Adam Ryland posts this to the guy who was so distraught: Quote:
Sure enough, a bit later in the thread it appears he followed through & did exactly that. Talk about going above and beyond ... (Yeah, I know, making it optional instead of automatic could have avoided the situation but I thought it was still a heck of a nice thing for him to do)

Maybe that'll be the new big thing we've been waiting for in text gaming - individually customed patches.

Although I can't get past the clicking of TEW, and WreSpi got 1D after a while, I did pick up from the GDS forums how hands-on and PR friendly Adam is - always seems to at least listen to suggestions and often implements them. Very refreshing.

Picked up this game a week ago and it's very deep. I've stopped playing FOF for this game so that says something. After coming from TNM7 for over the past decade, this is very nice.
