Question about retirement/lost cap

Over in the USFL, I was able to confirm that teams that lost cap for retirements included only 1 year of bonus money. That is, only the bonus money allotted to the new season was lost. This doesn't seem to be right as patch d indicated up to 2 years' of bonus money would be lost under a retirement.

Has anyone encountered this in SP or another MP game?

I'm thinking there is a possibility that Jim may have knocked off one year of lost bonus as part of the conversion process only. He knew there would be mass retirements that GMs playing 2k4 could not have prepared for, and so he took a precaution so that nobody's team was financially wrecked in the conversion process.

But it would be nice to know if this is a bug and what teams can expect next season.

Intersting...

Looking at my IHOF team, the total remaining bonus money to my retired players was $7.25M. Going into FOF2007, the hit due to retirements is only $4.7M ($6.4M - $1.7M built up before). That gives a difference of $2.55M, which is exactly what my retiring players were supposed to get in bonus money for the years after the current season. By how you say it should work (first two seasons of contract), the hit should have been $6.57M. It looks like this saved me $1.87M of cap room.

Glad to see someone else confirm this.

The (first two seasons of contract) is taken from the third bullet point listed for version 6.0d at http://www.solecismic.com/support/index.php

"If players retire early, only up to two additional seasons will count as lost cap room in the upcoming season."

Just a quick question. These people who are retiring, did they have more than one year left on their contract? I know this is an obvious question but maybe they had only one year on their contract left.

I am on a quest to show that the Dolphins can win the Super Bowl. Or should I say Front Office Bowl, with FOF2K7.

Yes, some had 2 or more years left with bonus in each of those years.
